Well, boredom overcame laziness this fine afternoon and I finally got to taking pictures of my Imperial Guard, the Kassarine 114th Sturmabteilung from the Adeptus Mechanicus Knight World, Kassar Tertius.
They are my DKK army and pictures should be up, hopefully, some time tonight. If not, by the end of next week. If not then, expect by the time death itself dies. are now up. Yay!
More pics might come later, depending on level of lazytude and wether or not I feel I should even post a project up.
And this is not only for my Kassarine, I'll also post up my other prjects as they come along, both new and old.

What an excellent waste of cyberspace. A notice about something...maybe.

Awesome, sir. I FULLY CONDONE this action, because it's REALLY USEFUL.

Why not just...not make a post until you have the pics?

This goes for all of you Why make "tbc" treads?

Because they were loading onto my laptop as I typed that and I don't believe in a little thing called patience. I now go to upload them to photobucket and then go here. I notice the lack of bitching in other hobbiest's threads despite their lack of posting for months in between the creation and the posting of pics.

Next time, just WAIT with posting the thread until the pictures are ready. My and my colleagues are getting a little tired of these "pic" threads, which are all fine and well, promise pics but show nothing but promises. Even though you quickly posted them, please think of us the next time.

Nice army, love the Macharius. Too bad about the Basilisk's barrel being a little split at the end though.

Not a big fan of the army name though and certain unit designations, because yes I know my history and it's a little too obvious.

That is a lot of ******** photos. Anwyays, i agree, might as well've just waited till you had the photos ready to make the post.

And actually there has been some bitching. One user had brookman on their complaining about the multiple threads she'd been making. Mayeb only a week ago we had an announcement posted in here about cleaning the forum up. There is of course us thanking people who use the stickies which isnt the most subtle way of saying we wish there were less of these.

Anyways, you could make good use of this large image collection and the thread, and just change the title and use it as a personal thread for all your projects as Brookman does and at one point DE did.

It's going to be my personal picture thread, I intended it to be just so from the beginning. Though I don't really care about any of my other armies (this is my focus) and probably will be the only thing I'm working on for some time... So until I add pics of armies other than the Kassarine 114th, it is what it is.
I think I'm going to cut the nickname, I don't like the Nazi German allussions as much as I like the WWI German.
I am quite proud of the Mach though, I spent about forty-eight hours (practically non-stop) washing, building, filing, fitting, raging, and painting it at the beginning of last summer. I was going for a brushed steel look that didn't quite turn out how I imagined it, but I can live. The next one I get, though, will be painted in the darker metal I used for the heavy mortars.
And the first basilisk is a sit in until I can get some more Armeggeddon patterns, so I'm fine with the barrel for now. If it ever begins to bother me, I'll either green stuff and repaint it or chop, shop, and swap the barrel for a new pipe.
And I hereby apologize, then, for any irritation, anger, and frustration I may have caused.

FW is steering hard away from the whole "Krieg am futuristic Germans" concept with their IA books.

While Kasserine doesn't mean much to the average uneducated rube around here, I know well enough that it is the location of a battle where the Germans had beaten the newbie American forces in North Africa. Of course, the Americans revised their army, sacked a few weak commanders and came back stronger as ever before, but the battles surrounding Kasserine were a big German victory.

All in all, the name and background is completely up to you, dear creator of the army in question. Just be wary that people may put two and two together.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 6:41 am
It's not like I'm playing it as an IA Krieg army, though I can if it want... But I originally planned to do an Afrika Korps themed army, came up with the current color scheme and could never quite sack the name... And they still look like WWI Germans.
That and Rommel is still one of the few military commanders, along with Patton, McArthur, Hannibal, and a hand full of other military commanders I'm too tired to name at the moment, who I enjoy the history of.

Meh, Im not worried if its name is derived from a victory on the Nazi side or not. Its a name, hes not talking about fluff liek including apothecaries to enforce some ideal of eugenecism. And hes not painting swastikas, or parading the colors of the "blood and soil".

At the same time, there are tards here and in life who here a germanic name and freak that it must be Nazi related.

I didn't say that the Afrika Korps didn't come from WWII, I just said the DKK looked like WWI Germans. And look up the East Africa Campaign, guess what German Army Corps fought there during WWI.

And most tards might not even connect Kesserine to Nazis since I'm pretty sure the name is Arabic and their knowledge of WWII includes the more stereotypical aspects of the SS, Wehrmacht, and Hitler rather than the more esoteric things, like battles (which they don't teach in school, which is where most idiots get their information).

And I'm undecided on the fluff behind the Kassarine, all I've decided on for now is that Kassar Tertius is a temperate world that's mostly open plains and forests with tundra covering the poles and it's three large, mineral rich moons are Forges employing the people of Kassarine Tertius as either workers or tithe off to the Imperial Guard by irregularly formed regiments of conscripted regulars (basic troopers) and specialists chosen at random for training and command/storm trooper positions. They serve as frontline troopers, with a penchant for overzealousy and collateral damage, that specialise in scorched earth and city fighting tactics.

Fluff is good, the scorched earth / city fighting angle is a good take on why they wear full respirator systems. What are their doctrines btw?

And I shall refrain from using my classical education in the future Kento.
