Which style looks better?
  Style 1
  Style 2
  Style 3
  Style 4
  Style 5
  Style 6
You should try to get better with some of them to create some varieties (if so which ones?)

I'm a freshman college student in USA xD
and I draw when I'm bored haha
(I'm actually engineering major xP)
Not much art education background
(or none crying ), but I love art >< (planing to take some art courses next year)
anyhoo... here's my deviantArt page, if you want to drop by~ ^^

I first started with anime style last summer (around June, 2007 methink)
Then I started to try other styles with my cursor xD
Then finally my friend lent me his Wacom Tablet around Oct. 2007 methink
I started to try other styles again xD, (some failed LOL)
and now I practice from anime art to air-brushing and some sort of combination of the two xD (something I invented blaugh )

Please critique any pic as much as you can; it is perfectly fine even if it is a harsh truth, as long as it is honest sweatdrop

Style 1: I first started with anime style:

Style 2: Then I started to play around with my mouse/cursor

Style 3: My friend then lent me his tablet, so I came up with a mixture of tablet +mouse xD
User Image

Style 4: Only mouse for line-art, and tablet for coloring + shading
User Image

Style 5: Then I tried pure air-brushing (without line art and mouse independent)
User Image

Style 6: I then tried traditional anime coloring again yesterday (tablet independent)

Please let me know how I should improve in each style ><
I personally want to get better with style 4 through 6, but that might take a while crying

Exactly what SunWuKung said. xD I took the liberty of throwing on some red lines as well:

[x]

I would also make her feet a bit bigger, and the arm behind her back would extend further down, till about mid-thigh. I'd also watch out for "lumpy lines" in places, as it makes the girl's figure look slightly odd.

Hope this helps!

Hence, I always cover them up crying

Any tips for bare feet will be much appreciated~

Really, the best tips I can give you for bare feet are just to find some pictures of bare feet and draw as many as you can. Don't erase, just do quick sketches to get the hang of the shapes and lines involved. Often, what I do in more stylized drawings is to simplify the toes to a basic shape; sometimes I just draw in the big toe, and sometimes, I just make a random wavy line to give the indication of toes. But yeah, just drawing a whole lot of feet and then trying to see the shapes involved is a good method, I think, for developing a way to draw feet. (:

I somehow couldn't fix her right(our left) eye ><

User Image

It still seems as if it is not fully opened crying
PostPosted: Fri Jan 11, 2008 11:29 pm
I think it would help if you made the eyes the same height, though I'm not sure cause you seem to have a perspective thing going on.

Oh and for your feet problem, lookie this: http://cedarseed.deviantart.com/art/Big-Guide-to-Drawing-the-Body-15014442

Show more white of the eye, maybe, and like raise the eye lid enough so you have the same amount of the iris that is being covered on both eyes.

Does that make sense?
