Here it is at long last.. a serious contest!
This is an avatar contest that will be judged by Lady Rayya and Mobius Nightshade.
Rules: 1) The avatar must be of a god, goddess or other divine figure 2) There must be supporting information; name, pantheon, and a link to a picture or preferably an article about said deity 3) One entry per person... I know this is a late add, but I don't want just ne person to earn both prizes 4) There is no entry fee 5) just make a tektek avatar and post it here, no item list needed!
The person who creates the most accurate avatar (or can argue why their avatar looks like they do) will win. There is a first prize and a second prize, and they are:
#1: 1000g #2: 500g
remember, accuracy and/or persuasiveness
NO ENTRY FEE

Brilliant! I don't think I'll be any good, but I'd love to see what people come up with. Good luck, everyone! (Is this a proper forum?)b

I figured that since this is educational as well as fun and conversation provoking that it belonged here.
It's educational because you hae to back up your rendering, and conversation starting if you can't... wink

Awondo? Looks kind of like Enma, the Monkey King, master of the Nyoi-bo and part of the greatest Chinese tale of all time. Except for the fact that he's not short and not furry.

Gaia (as I'm fairly sure that you know,) is the Great Mother of the titans. She is the earth. She is dressed with the land and is accompanied by creatures in demonstration of her nurturing nature and fertility. Awondo is the Sun God of the Mush Tribe of Africa (there is not much published about him). He is not so godly as others and is not above the people in rank or ability. b

I know of Gaia, for whom this place is named, but for Awondo can you provide links to some sources?

Athena, I can say, is plausible. The statue of Pallas Athena when it was still in existence has similar aspects. I'd suggest the Spartan Shield, the Summoning Tome's owl, and some sort of spear if one can be found.
Artemis, however, is requiring a bit more effort. I can recall her most often with her bow, and accompanied by a stag more often than such a predatorial creature as a wolf. 'Tis far too plain in my opinion. A valiant effort, though.
