Why is it called Maplestory?

Does anyone know why the game is called Maplestory? If no one knows for sure, then what are your theories about it? surprised

Because Fir Story sounds stupid? No. 'Cuz they felt like it, it just went *pop* out of their programming minds. If you ask this question, you might as well ask it about TONS of other games.

Oak Story?
Pine Story?
Fungus Story? eek

Unless you count the trees in the background of Henesys as Maples.

"This is the story of a land without Maple trees; A land filled with things that attack people for no reason. A land where humans and mushrooms alike are grumpy about the lack of maple trees.... This story is Maplestory...."

It's not an official storyline, but this person gathered up info from the quests and NPCs around in Maple.. I haven't read through it all yet.

It could have something to do with the Japanese word "momiji" (red maple), something cultural. I have no idea, really.

Done but it make some light of the back story well thar is an anime for maple story mape thars a bit more of the story hiddin in the anime its-self

alot of games have ranndom titles too like halo games like halo3 a halo has to do nothing to do with the game. they could have just been thinking of a title for it because atully can u think of a name for maplestory that could go with it? idk xp

The New Storyline on MapleStory is about the Black Mage.
I'd probably guess that it's called MapleStory because,
It's to make your own story, your own journey.
The jobs and classes to choose from form a tree.
Thief, Bandit OR Assasin, Chief Bandit or Hermit and so on.
It keeps going like a tree.
That's my guess anyway.

Lol actually, Halo has to do with giant metallic halos that Master Chief destroys. -.- Pretty easy to see in the first halo (Big explosions :3) Oh, and I have no idea why it's called Maple Story. Maple Syrup sounds much better. Maybe cause it's an eye catching name? I usually browse RPGs and Maple Story caught my eye. Even if the actual game is kinda boring. blaugh
