I'm not exactly sure if this belongs in the Spambox or here, but I'm sorry MODs if I misplaced this thread.
Recently, people in the world have been judging other people by they way they look/dress. The other day, I was walking outside. I had my average clothes on, baggy jeans, chain wallet, glasses, dark blue shirt. But as I walked, I noticed people looking at me in a disgusted way. Why? I'm sure it was because I dress DIFFERENTLY. Although, when I talk to the people that actually bothered to get to know me, they don't care about the way I dress, so long as they like who I am inside.
Now, pay attention children[even though I'm only 14....But I love saying that]. There's a new vocabulary word. To those paying attention, yes it's DIFFERENT. Now, what is DIFFERENT. DIFFERENT is when you look, act, dress, do - pretty much anything - out of the ordinary. People who are DIFFERENT are often treated differently than NORMAL people.
Another vocabulary word. What is NORMAL? You may say that no one is NORMAL. And it's true. But because to other people you're DIFFERENT, they think they're NORMAL. When they tell us that they're NORMAL and we're DIFFERENT, then NORMAL means clones of people who treat us like s**t because we're DIFFERENT. God made us all DIFFERENT with our own special talents, no matter who or what we are.
So....The real question is, do you like being treated because or the way you dress? ...I know I don't...

Oh don't you know, society is tolerant... assuming you have dark skin and come from a foreign country. (OK so that comes off as a wee bit racist, but those in the UK will understand what I'm getting at).
But yeah, it cracked me up at college I actually mentioned it to one of the tutors, but all these diversity posters, sure they showed people of different colour and creed, but one thing struck me, they all were dressed in pretty much the same clothes. Its like, social diversity is fine, but cultural diversity is some forbidden fruit. You'll all notice it whenever you go anywhere, like a government building, that the diversity posters, have everyone dress the same way.

Well, it doesn't seem to depend on the location I am. I mean, UAE, of course they take me as a foreigner for living in the US since birth, but it doesn't matter, because if a British or American person were to walk down the Corniche` half naked, no would would turn and stare. But seeing someone dressed like me, they could stare for ages, which really bothers me. I remember I was hanging out with my friends[the ones I met here] one time, and I wanted to change the way I dressed, to see how they would react. I wore a red shirt and some not-so-dark jeans and my chucks[can be seen in the 'what color are your chucks' thread under fashion]. When my friends saw me, they're like "You don't seem so emo or punk." I got pissed at them, and I seriously felt like taking a taxi back to my building. But I decided not to lose it, and just gave them the same lecture I gave them many times before:
"Emo is not about the way you dress, or the way you act around friends, or how depressed you are, or whether you cut yourself and hide your scars or not, or whether you write/draw depressing stuff, or whether you cry when you listen to Hawthorne Heights or any other rumored bands that were supposed to make you cry. It's about the pain that's inside of you..." I went on for about another half an hour.
Honestly, and this might be going off topic a bit, I don't want to offend my heritage, but sometimes, Arabs just don't understand, but this comes from a girl who's lived in Maryland her whole life, but it still ticks me off to this day.
Which leads to another topic that I'll have in another thread so I won't have to keep going off topic.

EmoJirachi [Ashes][is][Ashes] killadroid Personally, I think skin colour STILL makes a difference on how people think of one another.
It does. Because people are stupid. It's because a lot of people are beginning to get racist....Even the Arabs are, too...They see me and instantly laugh, because I look American or act American or dress American. Well guess what, bitches! I pretty much AM American! So they can go and shut the ******** up. And there's this guy in the guy's school who I heard was of a different race, I forget what, but everyone laugh at him because of it...They don't bother to get to know the dude... beginning? where have you been the past..........1000 years
