Anyone a fan of the lovely anime Gankutsuou? For those who are unfamiliar with it, it's roughly based on The Count of Monte Cristo. It's set far in the future and tells the story through Albert's perspective instead of Edmond, which makes things pretty interesting. It's a really beautiful, moving, heart breaking piece of work....and did I mention all the homoerotic undertones? Frankly, I think people who think that Albert loved the Count like a father, or that Franz loved Albert like a brother, are kidding themselves. But that's just me.  Yeah, that looks like a real platonic relationship. XP Where's that hand headed, Count? Thoughts, opinions, comments? Favorite couple? My OTP is Count/Albert, easy. heart Discuss~

I'm not against Count/Albert per se, but I would sooo prefer Franz/Albert.. that, combined with just the way I see things, lends me to see the relationship between the Count and Albert as more of, like.. an "obsessive mentor/student" thing. Albert is way too caught up in the Count's bidness, yes, and he's definitely seeking some sort of emotional gratification, but I really don't think he wants it what what in the butt.
..not that he wants it from Franz either, but I mean, one I see as a legitimately canon one-sided love; the other.. no.
EDIT: Probably should mention I've only seen about 12 episodes, but once I have a free day I plan on marathon-ing the whole show.

Honestly, I was really torn between Franz/Albert and Count/Albert until the very end....it was the second to last episode that finally won me over for good. whee I still love Franz/Albert, but Count/Albert just hits some of my biggest weaknesses reeeeeally hard. heart You should definitely finish it, things start getting really good around episode 16.

I've only seen two episodes, somewhere in the middle of the beginning (like that makes any sense, lol) at AX this year. Within about seven minutes or so my friend and I were like 'I sense slaaash~ heart ' xD I like Count/Albert and Franz/Albert, though I've been leaning towards the Count as of late....
Not only that, I thought it was just visually stunning. Makes me wanna play with photoshop or something....
I'm dying to see more~ MOAR I SAY!
But I don't have time....

I was watching it somewhere in the middle of it, but then I didn't watch the ending because I am reading the Count of Monte Cristo and I didn't want to see the ending spoiler if it is similar to the book. So, after I finish the book, I will pick the anime up again! ^_^ The style and colors are really beautiful! I've never seen such patterns in an anime before!

I cant really hate CountxAlber because it manages to be creepy and weirdly adorable(and creepy/cute yaoi rocks) but I'm way more of a FranzxAlber fan. I LOVE that whole "best friends since childhood, and one of them harbors unrequited love for the other" cliche. I could ALMOST get into AlbertxPeppo, but Peppo is just... too girly = I mean, girly guys are great (and I have no qualms with crossdressing x3) but Peppo's so girly he actually registers in my mind as a girl, which makes it kind of strange xD

omg~
I was just talking about this anime with my friend xD We both watched it and agreed that it is one of the best anime we've seen so far.
I mean, the art is just mind blowing and the characters,their story xDDDDD
I'm sorry but Franz should have rapped Albert when he had the chance that night when they fell asleep at their secret hideout. LOL
