I've been kind of depressed for about a week now. My friends tell me to stop acting, and that I have no reason. I've thought about it and I still don't know why. Is it possible to be depressed for no reason?

Don't worry - it's normal. Unfortunately. Yes, it is possible, and happens quite often, believe it or not. Just...surround yourself with your friends, go out and have fun. Not even kidding. Sometimes just hanging out helps a lot.

But that's what I normally do. I think it might be stress that's causing it. Could that be it?

Yes, it could. Stress can cause all sorts of problems. I've been having problems sleeping and eating, and problems with pulling muscles. My doctor says I've just been too stressed...I keep expecting something bad to happen because so many things have been going well. So, yes, it is a possibility.

Yes, it's definitely possible. Since I'm guessing you want to feel better, you probably need to change a few things regarding your surroundings and such. If you can. If not, do what you think will make you happy. Go out with friends. Go shopping. Dye your hair. Eat Ben & Jerry's. If things still aren't looking the least bit better, if you can afford it, try and find someone to talk to or to prescribe meds. Do what ever you can to help yourself. Wish you all the best! ~Liv

depression does not always have to be triggered by anything, i know this from experience sadly enough...
the 2 years that should of been the best of my life were spent miserable due to a severe depression when life should of been great.

Qmiser But that's what I normally do. I think it might be stress that's causing it. Could that be it? stress is one of the most common triggers the stress does not even have to be overwhelming if you have to deal with it often enough

I agree with Soviet and RQMC25. I've had this plenty. I call it the iffy mood. But perhaps you should think back to all those little problems that bothered you before, or things that were bugging you before and just pick it up from there. It could be even the smallest of things making you depressed.
But yes, Stress is a probability.

Qmiser Is it possible to be depressed for no reason? another cause might be something totaly different than stress. It might be that you have a small case of bi-polar.I am cause it doesn't happen much but sometimes it does for no reason and will last for about a week or a little more.If it doesn't stop, you can get stress pills...they really help cause they did my friend.

Hormones. Bad week? Sub-conscious feelings?
It happens to everyone.
