why emo is discriminated (a must read)

well, it's really hard to change what the general public has assumed what emo is. honestly, emo is not being depressed or being sad. That ideology of emo-ness made the scene to be the most discriminated youth sub-culture of today. okey, first of all, this is not to bash the emo kids out there. this is meant to be helpful.

here is the thing, emo is short for emotive hardcore or emotional hardcore, not just "emotional". if you come to realize, almost all songs that are written has an emotions on it. emo is a subgenre of Hardcore which is meant to be emotive yet chaotic. It didnt came from punk after all.

the word "emo" was BASTARDIZED by MTV and magazines to label music popularized by the following bands: MCR, TBS, The Used, Chiodos, Dashboard Confessional etch.
MTV and those magazines are so perfectionists that they didnt research the meaning of the emo.

the revelation: MCR, The Used, Chiodos and all that is seen in MTV is not emo. I say that those bands are good and catchy. but hey, they're not emo. dont claim them emo, for Love's sake. I LOVE listening to those bands and I used to cover their songs, I really wish that people wont label them wrong. coz It's like claiming a flower to be a bee.

the real emo bands or the original emo bands are: Indian Summer, Pg. 99, Cities of caterpillar, Envy and a lot more.

Actually I thought the reason emo kids we're discriminate against, was the high levels of elitism, I mean, seriously, you guys have a bigger elitism problem then the goths, so when you get power metal lovin' mother ******** like yours truly, we can't help but laugh at how seriously you take something as simple as a musical style.

Of course, I'm using broad generalisations here and stop the back lash, I am aware, not all emo fans or goths are like that.

I know what you mean, people complain there are too many posers, but when someone who may have a genuine interest asks for help or advice on getting into the scene, the people that complain just go nuts at them.

It shouldnt have been a trend. It's just a music subculture until the mainstream got in the way. A trend is just superficial. And like I said, emo is not just lonelines, Sadness, depression and all the things related to emo this days. so if you hate emo because you think it's a trend, then you only knew the surface and know nothing whatsoever about emo.
