When I saw ads for the Count of Monte Cristo, I thought it looked weird. But then I rented the first dvd on a lark, and am completly hooked! the art is gorgeous and the plot is so moving. emo

Watch to the end, it's fantastic. Total heart breaker, but one of the best series I've ever seen. EVER.
I'm not going to give away the ending, but yes, I agree the anime is very good. I love the artwork. I admit, at first it was kinda distracting, but after a while I got used to it and started to really like it. Enjoy watching it and let us know what you think!
P.S. The box set comes out Tuesday. ~m

Gankutsuou is amazing! The art was designed by that one famous Asian fashion designer. At first I really didn't like the art, but I grew to like it. It's very original and different. The ending is really sad and symbolic at the same time. You'll really enjoy this series!

I thought that the art was distracting at first, but once I got used to it I loved it! blaugh
yeah same here, but i like that they chose to make the series in that style. i dont think that has ever been done before, using textures for clothes hair and background. they may have but not as extensively.
