Hi guys.

Some of you may have noticed a number of thread being locked in the mentor forum. This is to protect mentees from wasting time applying to mentors who are inactive.

Inactivity for a month, with no notice in the thread title will result in a lock. (Based on the date the thread owner last posted in it.)

Any mentor that wishes to take a hiatus, both temporary or indefinite can request a lock.

Any thread that's locked can be unlocked with a PM to a crew member.

The guidelines will be updated to reflect these changes. Feel free to ask any questions here.

A note to mentors:


I noticed some of you haven't got any mentees coming to you. I also notice that many of you are NOT going to the sketchbooks and helping each other out. No one will know if you can help them if you aren't helping anyone. The point is to help each other.

Please be advised that we will be "cleaning" this forum quarterly. If you may have noticed, a number of threads have been locked due to inactivity of the of the thread owners. All threads with final posts before 2008 have been locked.

Active mentors are urged to clean up their mentee lists of severely inactive mentees to give new people a chance to learn from you.

As you may have noticed, the mentor forum has been cleaned of old and inactive threads.

All active mentors are strongly encouraged to update their information and samples as well as clear their mentee lists of inactive mentees.

We also encourage people to have only ONE mentor. There are many people that have been asking for a mentor in inactive threads and it's unfair that they are being disappointed again and again while some people are getting the attention of more than one.

We also ask that mentors remember that there is a forum of sketchbooks where many people are posting and looking for helpful feedback. Of course, your dedicated mentees always come first, but if you have a little time, please visit the mentee forum and share your knowledge and experience in a few threads each week.
