ok, I want to arm one of my Imperial Guard Sergeants with a shotgun, but I cant afford FW parts. So I wish to convert a bolter into a shotgun, but I need idea's! Can anybody out there help me?

*pulls out a bolter, experiments*

Ah, got it.

Cut off the clip where it enters the gun.

Cut off the barrel from the front, set it aside.

See the line in the back (on the left side if the gun is pointed away from you) above the handle and above the technical looking stuff, where the casing of the gun starts? Cut the top off along that, evenly to the front of the gun. DON'T follow the line of the casing as it shifts, keep it in the same line as the first section I just described.

Glue the barrel back on so it's even, a bit lower than it originally was.

Cut the sight off the top portion and glue it on the new top of the gun, now that it's been removed.

Looks shot-gunny to me. I'll post pictures later.

Edit: You might want to make some sort of stock out of greenstuff, or cut it off just behind the handle as well, looks kinda awkward there.

All right, here's what I came up with.

Getting the sight back on is the tricky part.

That's actually very impressive, if I do say so myself. However, I would personally file off some of the area just after the trigger and whatnot to be about the same level as the grip, to give a more distinctive "shotgun look".

I left it there as an ammo feed, like you see on some combat shotguns. It would work either way, though.

That actually is pretty "shot gun" looking. Very nice for such a simple conversion. Perhaps adding some small cylinders a** shotgun ammo here and there, or on a belt for the sarge would make it more obvious that its a shotgun rather than a bolter.

I say file the top casing area round and make it so the muzzle is at the top of the end instead of being lowered down. Maybe modifying the possition of the muzzle would add a bit more too.

If not, have him hold it one-handed with the arm from the Flamer, with the strap holding it steady.

It's a method I used for having a Guardsman hold a Bolter before. The model is currently in Brookman's possession, I think.

Very clever DE!

But I would have probably taken something like plasticard or something that would create a ridge and punched a small hole out then glued it on and run a drill down the center. ^^

Isn't there shotguns included with a box of Space Marine Scouts?

Anyways, belt-feed ammo bits (like the Chaos Marine ones) would probably go well with that.
