This has probably already been asked and answered, but I couldn't find it anywhere so I'm asking anyway. I just got a new laptop that has windows vista; I got maple story to install, but it won't run. Does anyone know what I need to do to get ms to run on vista?

Right click it and find um.. there should be some kind of emulator option where you can change the settings to make it run like it would on XP. It doesn't work for everyone, though.

I can't seem to find any option like that, but thanks for your help anyway.

I don't know anything about Vistas, really, but have you tried right-clicking on the Maple icon itself, going to properties, and setting the compatibility (there's a tab for it) to Windows XP, as __penguin__ stated?

If it's still not there or it doesn't work, I'm sorry I'm of no help, either. Good luck trying to get the game up and running. ^^

I asked my college course tutor, and he said.
"Remove Vista and use XP again. Wait about 6 more months before you use Vista."

Yeah um, no.
Downgrading that laptop will render it virtually useless. Vista is the only os on that system anyway so there is no way to remove it and install xp. It's been specified for vista.

Anyway.
Does any type of message come up. Do you get a blank screen or anything or does gameguard itself not even show up?

stare And she mentioned which laptop she bought when? You can downgrade any computer, you simply need to own a windows XP CD.

Wrong.
Like I said fool, it'll ruin the thing, if it was made to run vista then xp is no good. Not only is that stupid but it's a waste of money. Yeah I'ma go buy a new laptop and then downgrade it and make it shitty. rolleyes

My friend said he opened his NEXON file and clicked on "Patch".
And that's all he explained.
It might not be right, but he got his working somehow.
Maybe I'll ask him about it later.

Right-click the program in the Maple Story folder. (Not the shortcut) Go to the compatibility tab and set it to Windows XP.

you're right, it would pretty much ruin my laptop if I downgraded to xp
it's brand new and was built to run on vista

taerk-kun

that worked :]
thanks so much for your help
I had tried just right clicking the icon like the people before said but there wasn't a compatibility tab

anyway... now I can finally play maplestory again
thanks again everyone

Congrats on getting maple to work again.
I wish they'd release a vista compatible one soon.
For some reason I lag more often with Vista than I ever did with windows xp.

Hopefully service pack 1 will fix a lot of the lagging and black out fits vista has when we play maple. I know I sure can't wait.
