I know its a bit early to be talking about this but today I watched a show on national geographic where they talk about the terrorist attacks.
I cried. :/
Its so fricken sad.
My birthday is sept. 11...so i feel like...my birthday has been soiled.

If you live in the US where were you when the attacks happend?
What are your feelings about this?

Discuss.

EDIT: This thread is not ment to stir up a political discussion. Please strickly keep to the feelings of attacks of any kind anywhere. Politics is a very opinionated discusion that i DO NOT want to be apart of. So please dont start it in my thread.

Well, if I may be brutally honest, yes 9/11 was a huge tragedy, but the only reason it is considered so, if because it happened in the US.

So please, as you consider this attack, also consider the thousands of lives taken in England by the IRA.

I'm not trying to put down any other attack thats happened in the world outside of the US. I just bring this specific incident because its that time of year and its affected me cuz of my birthday. I think that anytime things like this happen its a tragety. No one should have to go through anything like this

I could care less about 9/11.
In fact, I think America needed it.
But it didn't do what I hoped it would.
I'm actually hoping that they will bomb again.
I hope we get car bombs.

I was in 4th grade when that happened. (I think)
My mom picked me up early from school that day & made me go to work with her.
Even back then I didn't really care, it had nothing to do with me or affected me in this country.

Sorry it ruined your birthday...

I still dont think innocent people deserve to die.

I remember coming home from school and walked through the bar, my parent's owned a pub.
And everyone was staring at the screen and I went to get a drink from behind the bar and everyone went 'shhh'.
I thought it was a film and someone said it was real and I was like woah.
It was really sad when I heard about that woman who rang her husband and he was asleep and she left a message saying how much she loved him as the building went down sad .

I don't either.
But it's never going to stop.
And while people here sit at home & watch all the s**t happening all over the world other people are dieing.
And you know what, the american soldiers are killing innocent people too.
So this whole thing is just s**t.
Pure s**t.

I was at home, waiting to leave to go to Disneyland.
We were going to leave early in the morning, but ended up leaving in the afternoon, because my mother was watching the news. All the way there, no stations had music.
I didn't understand any of it at the time, but a few years ago I watched documentaries and news reports.
Not only did it scare the crap out of me, but I was crying.
The one thing I can't get out of my head is the image of people falling from the buildings.

Candy.
Shut up.
It was tragedy.
No one deserves to die in such a matter.
I remember my mother and sister crying for people we have and never will meet.
I dont want that to happen again.
Because I dont want people takin from their families.
I dont think anyone deserves that.
No country needed something that was as aweful as that.
More people die each year in car accidents then in the attack.
But it was still an aweful thing.
And I DON'T think there should be another one.
The first one started something we can't get out of.
The second would start something worse then where we are now.

I agree that we shouldn't still be overseas, in Iraq, but you need to shut up.
We aren't slaughtering innocent people.
We didn't go into a country because we hate their government, their rights, their religions, and KILL INNOCENT MEN AND WOMEN OUT OF SPITE.
Terrorist attacks like that do NOT happen every day.
All people die.
All over the world.
It's natural.
Attacks aren't.
America also happens to have a LOT of people and organizations trying to HELP people in different countries.
I agree with Dai this time.
Shut up.

You just don't understand where I'm coming from.
Terrorist attacks happen everyday around the world.
They may not be that bug but for some they may as well be.
Like at least 1 car bomb goes off in Thailand everyday.
And you want to know the ******** up thing about it.
My counsin just had to be in the area when it happened.
And whats even more ******** up is that the schools here won't let me leave to go to his furneal because "it wasn't a proper excuse".

I'm just being a bitter selfish little stupid kid right now.
In fact I can't even think straight because I'm high.

So?
Same thing has happened in Ireland.
They arent exactly the most united of countries.
But a car bomb and airplanes flying into buildings are TWO seperate things.

confused Now that a few people have posted I guess I can post my story now:

I was in 8th grade and it was my 14th birthday. That day my friends had brought party favors, flowers and all that fun stuff for my bday "celebration" at lunch. Well after first period we get to 2nd and on the loud speaker they start nameing peoples names saying thier parents are here to pick them up...To which my teacher didnt have the TV on and he didnt say anything.
Someone ended up coming for me and in the main hallway infront of the office was 209348230423 parents freaking out. I somehow found my mom and she grabbed me and took me home.
I asked what was happening and she told me that there were terrorist attacks and that they had to evacuate her building. I live in Houston, which is the 4th largest city in America. Lots of tall buildings and my mom worked litterally next to the tallest building in Houston. Duh. Leave.
We got home and we just sat there watching tv while my dad went to go get my sister.
I ended up not having a birthday lunch with my friends nor did i get my bday dinner at my favorite place. I got left overs...No cake either.

It was so sureal.

Thats really sad.

I remember when there was a bomb scare at my high school.
I was late and remember seeing my deputy head standing outside and I was like fuuck.
And then I saw riot vans and a million police cars.
And he was like 'get to the back field now!'
So I joined my form's line, we line up in forms on fire alerts.
And someone told me it was a bomb scare.
Our field is HUGE btw, we were right at the end of it.
We stood outside for about 3 hours.

Then found out a few weeks later a guy from a boys school down the road had his laptop confiscated because they had found 'how to do a bomb scare' on his hard drive or whatever.

At my best friends high school, they had the el paso swat team patrol thier school. They had an announcement saying that if they werent in class they would be subjected to whatever the swat team wanted. I didnt quite understand why they were there but i guess the students were rebeling against the school somehow.
Anyway, the teachers didnt agree with it and would pull students randomly into thier class just to get them away. Some kids were taken into custody and some who fought back were beaten. It kinda reminded me of the kent state incident. Minus the guns...Anyway, my friend had to sit in an ESL class for 4 hours while they read harry potter. Suposivly one of thier vice principles got beat down by a swat person too. Haha.
