Not evolving~

Hiya peeps~
I'm not a member here, but I needed some help and this is one of the few public Pokemon Guilds, so I came here for help ^^

Well here it is, I just picked up Firered version and I'm playing along and my golbat starts to evolve, but it stops without me pressing anything. So I just assume it'll only happen once, and level it up again, and it goes into the evolution animation thing again and yet again it doesn't evolve, and I was taking special care to make sure I didn't press anything. I asked my friend what his opinion was, he said my B-button my me stuck or something, so I tried to evolve another pokemon, a pikachu, and it evolves -.- my friend suggests that Crobat isn't in the dex, and that I may need to obtain the National Dex in order to get my golbat to evolve x.x
I wanted a second opinion on the problem so if anyone could help me that'd be great ^^;

yeah it could be the dex cause the happen to me with my chansy D: need to beat the pokemon league and talk to oak need over i belive 50 pokemon

well, in anycase, thank you all for your help *sigh* too bad Golbat can't hold a candle to Crobat x.x

Lol just get ur dex and ull be fine unless ur like far from that point XD

Yeah, I saw this on serebii. Their eveolutions aren't in the regular dex, so you just get the National and they'll eveolve.

Beat the Elite four and have at least 50 pokemon in your Kanto dex, and it's yours. ^^

(It also opens up the four other Sevii islands, where you have to do a small quest to be able to trade with other third gen games).
