I've just completed my first 500 pionts of orks and now I need to know what is the best way to get a good boyz skin color?

Goblin green.

Perhaps be more specific, or thats about all I can think to tell you.

Inks are great, but I like working my way up through colours. ^^
=D
So I would go with like.. dark angels green to start. Then maybe up to snot green and continue up in thin layers of snot green then do the same with goblin green. Then mix a little while with goblin green and do some final highlights.

I play chaos for 40k, but I play orks for fantasy.
I use dark angels green and drybrush scorpion green to make muscles stand out a little better. If I had a new camera, I would upload pics of my black orcs for you. (Im entering them in a painting competition, whenever one comes.

He said snot green and I said scorpion green. Scorpion is brighter and adds more of a contrast.

He said it AGES ago... D;

Anyways, I don't agree, scorpion green makes ork skin be more like grots or goblins, the brighter a greenskins skin is the weedier they are.

The things that should give an ork/orc contrast is warpaint, armour or clothes, not their skin, not if you want a realistic look on greenskins that is. n_n;;

If you get the scoripon green in all the indentions where the muscles bulge out, it makes the ork amazing-er.
No, my vocabulary of ways to say "cooler" is not very broad....

That's how I painted orks in the beginning, and they looked like glowing people... o:

Dark-green is the way to go if you ask me, gives it a more natural look rather than a cartoony. Foundationpaints are perfect to get a realistic look on ork skin, dank and dull as it should be when your skin is hard as leather.

But green is green, so all kinds of green is proppa' in the end. ;D

I'm thinking of going for goblin green or orkhide green and just dipping the model after the basic coats have been put on.

I'm not one for classical approaches to painting. I always like the "different" army. Did you try my idea?

No, I don't have time for that. Krieg are far more important than Orks at the moment.
