i noticed that the magician can do attacks that kill multiple enemies at once later on in the game, and the attacks look cool AND you can do it from distance on some moves...correct?? or should i do warrior for close range attack, or can you do distance attack to? i doubt it, which is easier to train and better/stronger?

Alright, warriors are good from the start. Hey! High level strength! But don't get start mixed up with the end. Later they tend to become a little weaker.
Mages, well, I know more about them. First off, it's tough. SO FREAKING TOUGH. Low STR all the time, low HP. That means bad from the start.
Let's look at higher levels. 10-30: Well, mages get stronger. I mean A LOT. At PQ, they're the best job. Very good to have. Warriors suck at this.
Though, warriors seem to level quicker. They have good attacks- normal AND special attack. Something mages will never have. Mages consume MP, and, if you like using special moves, so do warriors.
Let's up it a bit. 31-70: Warriors are okay, but mages aren't very good. Warriors are medium, not a best at any boss. Mages aren't very good. Though Clerics have an upper hand. Heal Slave FTW?
In all, they're pretty good. I can't explain higher than level 70. Good luck in your decision, though.

If you're really planning ahead... DKs are better than Mages, in the long run. I'd rather Priests over Mages though. I personally don't like close range characters much but warriors can deal massive damage third job and up.

Fire mages are pointless in my opinion.
if your going for a mage class make it a cleric or Ice/lighting mage.
Clerics would be more useful while i/l are more soloing in the long run
with warriors. Best bet would be Spearmen or Fighters. I really dont see the point of pages

In short- Pick what ever you like playing best.
Warriors 1-20 = Easy 20-50 = Hard 50-70 = Medium 70+ = Good fun
Mages
1-15 = Uber pain in the a** 15-40 = They have a gaint "I win" button stuck to there a** 40+ = Slows off some diffrent classes diffrent things
@:zonic69 - Fire mages do the most damage in one hit than any other mage class in the run to level 70. Pages get power guard which is aswesome, and then lots of cool attacks at level 70+.
Its also good to note warriors get slash blast which can kill multiple enemys at like level 12. =D
I think you really need a few good friends though if your a warrior, your probably gona find its realy tought going it alone.

magicians when u start off, ur the strongest. from level 8-30. u can use magic claw which deals alot of damage. u can use magic at any range, close and far away. by any range, i mean like with a ranger and sin, u gotta be far away to hit, with mage, u can hit closeup. when u get 2nd job, get cleric, so u dont have to waste money on healing pots.

I've been on my magician alot lately...
They're a bit of fun, when you get tele, even though it is a huge MP waster at level 1.
x_x
But thats common knowledge...
As for warriors, I couldn't get a warrior past 15.
Too boring.

I've made an assassin, a page, and an i/l wiz. It depends on what you like... distance, or being right in the middle of everything. I've found that magicians are hard to level, but I like the skills they have. I didn't like the thief class... I've ksed a lot of bandits, and I didn't like the whole jump + attack aspect of assassins. Warriors are strong. I was partying with a lvl 53 assassin today at gollems, and I was doing as much average damage as he was (I'm a lvl 47) And I chose page because I like the elemental aspect for 3rd job (white knight.) Another thing about warriors is if that's the path you chose, it's harder to chose from there... 1 or 2 handed ... swords or blunt weapons (for page and fighter) or you can go the dk route. All in all, my vote goes to making a page. There's just not enough of us XD

A Rusty Nail As for warriors, I couldn't get a warrior past 15. Too boring.
Probably because of being ksed. The first 30 levels you have to solo in a corner of maple story. Or once you hit lvl 25 start pqing. But before that time, you just either have to grind it out on a solo session, or grab a friend and leech exp.
