Well there seems to be no thread for Earthian in this little guild yet. That makes me a little sad actually.
Personally I think Earthian is a great series, both the manga and the OVA... Well okay you have to like OLD SCHOOL anime to like the OVA (it was made in 1989) but other than that it's awesome.
I must say Chihaya is my favourite, he's the most adoreable girly boy around. At least in my opinion that is.
So tell me people, has anyone else read or seen this series?

Read it, hated it.
Well.. no. Let me clarify.
Hated Chihaya, hated Kagetsuya, hated their interactions, hated their plot development, hated the trial, hated the weird cyborg backstory, hated most of the art.
Loved Michael and Raphael. Loved the lesbians. Keeping it because of them.
The OVA was just bad like whoa.

eek Erm, well okay then... I am not too sure what to say to all that. Personally I loved all of the things you hated... ^^; I kind of liked Lucifel... but hate her for what wound up happening... Uh, it's hard to explain with out giving away like EVERYTHING... but yeah, it was VERY sad...

I liked the Deluxe editions very much, although the art style is a bit odd.
I liked the way that it was about more that just Chihaya and Kagetsuya, how the different parts weved together.
The fourth one was kinda interesting.
I've never seen the OVA.

[I think the "4th volume" was just a bit cheap, though :/] Well the OVA I think is meant to be watched one after each of the manga... At least that's the way I see it... especially the third episode of the OVA, the only way to understand the part where they're in bed together, is if you've read the third volume of the manga. As for the fourth volume... well all I can say is... PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO IT. You find out A LOT of secrets about the characters, specifically Chihaya. I was happy she put it out because I can appreciate and sympathize with Chihaya more now, Michael too.

I'd have to say that I like both the OVA and the Manga. But out of all of it Chihaya is still my favorite character. He's so innocent and yet not that innocent at all, he see's things from a point of view that I can understand. The softer point of view is always the sweeter more naive one but it's always the one full of heart, in my opinion.

I can actually say this: Earthian was the first manga series I've ever owned. I got it over eBay for a pretty good price! Kagetsuya/Chihaya will remain one of my favorite couples. My favorite part was when Kagetsuya made dinner, and Chihaya burned his tongue, causing Kagatsuya to lick it... which he denied later in the series.
Michael and Rafael was also a pairing I enjoyed. My favorite part in the 4th volume was definitely when Michael cut his hand with a pencil sharpener and refused to let anyone other than Rafael heal it. Kawaii...
The OVA was pretty good in my opinion, but I was a bit angry when we didn't get to see any action between Kagetsuya and Chihaya.
My favorite character was definitely Lord Seraphim!!!

I'm a Chihaya/Kagetsuya fangirl, I have to say. I've seen the OVA a whole bunch of times, but don't own the manga or anything. >< But I love them so. Ipo2398 The OVA was pretty good in my opinion, but I was a bit angry when we didn't get to see any action between Kagetsuya and Chihaya. What? No action?? *points to Hoshi no Miko's last post* Tee hee. X3

Yeah, the OVA is a little bit of a dissappointment with the lack of action it has. However, I still laugh my a** off at the breakfast scene in episode 3 or 4... I don't really remember which it is. Just the way Chihaya says what he says to Kagetsuya, it cracks me up every time.
When it gets right down to it, I would take the manga over the OVA any day. I simply adore the manga... and in that you do get to see a little action and it is done nice and tastefully. I am so lame though, I actually started bawling my eyes out when I read the trial of Chihaya and Kagetsuya.

I would reccommend finding the manga and reading it. The anime is quite alright, but the manga is better. The art is old, like I said before, but I still find it to be very pretty. Give it a shot, you might like it ^_^

I only have the first two volumes. I don't know, it's not my favorite or anything, but I don't hate it. I don't know whether I'll buy the rest, because it didn't really pull me in so much. neutral
