Alright, so High School Musical 2 just premiered, and I believed it to be even slashier than the original, so I figured we should get a discussion going. High School Musical is about a boy named Troy Bolton whose entire life revolves around basketball... or at least, that's what he thought. Then he meets a girl named Gabriella Montez who inspires him to sing, and suddenly everything that had originally been black and white becomes technicolor, and his world is closing in on him. This movie is very much about spreading your wings and realizing that it's okay to branch out and like other things -- that you shouldn't let your clique define who you are. The movies are directed by Kenny Ortega, known for Newsies, Hocus Pocus, The Cheetah Girls, etc.
Anyway, about the sequel -- keep in mind that this is a High School Musical 2 SPOILER thread, so read ahead at your own risk. Still, it'd be nice if you put a warning in your post before you say anything about the sequel, as not everyone has seen it yet and we want discussion about the first movie too.
Troy and Gabriella: Did you like that this movie took more romantic turn with their relationship, or were you dissapointed? I thought it was kind of expected, after the first movie, so I wasn't really sad by it. I think that even with the closeness of the two, they still left a lot of room for us fans to slash -- it was an agreeable amount of mush. Chad and Ryan: These two gave us a lot to work with, and I actually had to laugh at it because all this fanfiction makes Chad out to be this terrible person who hates Ryan because Troy and he are OMGSOINLOVELAWL but he was the one to be friends with Ryan first! Ryan's turnaround: Ryan's character changes a lot for this movie -- less of a crooney who blindly follows Sharpay and more of an individual. He's also more intelligent in this one -- and nicer. I LOVED it. I thought he was adorable and couldn't stop grinning through the "I Don't Dance" scene. Also, the fact that Troy was momentarily jealous of Ryan MADE MY NIGHT. XDD How the hell could you think your girlfriend is cheating on you with RYAN? He's so gay the small children know it! heart The music: What was your favorite song? Your least favorite? Obviously I really loved the "I Don't Dance" song, but I also liked the song Gabriella sings about moving on. It's so pretty. ETC: Discuss discuss! Choreography. Favorite character. Ryan's shirts. Actors/Actresses. Favorite line. And of course -- who's your favorite pair? That's where the yaoi aspect of this comes in, after all!
Troy/Ryan Troy/Chad Chad/Ryan Chad/Zeke Troy/Zeke Ryan/Zeke
I hope I've given you enough to work with. blaugh

I Don't Dance. Essentially, my life was complete with that song. I haven't loved Disney so much since like... Mulan One. Ryan is essentially the gayest person I've ever seen in a Disney movie, and I have seen A LOT of Disney movies. Chad/Ryan ftw. Troy/Zeke could be cool too.

§ ὄφις XD ohh, Mulan. Lol I also loved how in the sequel, Ryan's "aww" factor goes up by like a bajillion when he's around his parents. His little "Hi mom!" wave and his dad fussing over his hat was the cutest thing EVER. I almost forgot. After the "I Don't Dance" scene, when they're sitting around and eating, Ryan and Chad have switched outfits. XDD I didn't even notice at first until my sister was like "...I wonder where they changed?" Which is an interesting question. 3nodding

I haven't yet seen all of the 2nd movie but so far Ryan has became my favorite character. xd I've always have a soft spot for the dumb characters and when they are very gay, I just end up loving them even more. rofl Actually I think Ryan is the 2nd gayest character in a Disney movie, must we forget Pleakey from Lilo & Stitch. xd

OMG. Pleakley does kinda beat Ryan for gayest Disney character. but, in defense of Ryan, Pleakley is an alien. a gay alien, but still an alien.

I wonder how many times Ryan wore a pink hat or a pink shirt to school... wait. I'm sure he even wore pink pants once... xd
I love the "Bet On It" song. Troy matched the scenery. And it's a cool song...
Pairing-wise, I like Troy/Ryan. biggrin
