I recently found someone online who I used to know, and we quickly became practically best friends, until about an hour ago. I came out to him, and suddenly he became really homophobic and mean (some of the things he said about gay and lesbian people were awful!). I still can't get over it, and although I know I shouldn't let such pathetic ignorance get to me, it still had me reduced to tears at first. sad
Sorry if it sounds like I'm just making a fuss here, but I just feel so betrayed, and need to vent and know that I'm not alone in things like this. I can't believe someone who was my best friend would just turn on me like that! cry

I know what you mean. My best friend was the exact same way when I told him I was gay. But dont worry, you will find people out there who dont care that you are gay, and will except you because your you!! heart

God, I hate it when friendships end just because of a silly thing like that. I had the same experience in.... 5th grade. Maybe 6th? I had a really nice friend. I guess I could've called her one of my best friends back then. She was kind, funny, and just an all around awesome person. When I found out I was bisexual, I confided in her because I was afraid (isn't everyone at first?) and she was the only one I could turn to at the time. Then she stopped talking to me and told me she didn't want to be my friend anymore because she said I might influence her to be a bad person. I was really upset because it wasn't like I was going "Oh gee, I think you should start liking girls that way too!" I wasn't forcing my sexual orientation on anyone! And a bad person? What the ********? Gays and bisexuals are people too. You don't have to like people of your gender to be a bad person. You just have to be a ******** jackass!
Ah, sorry, got a bit off track there. Anyhow, you don't need a friend like that. If he can't accept you for who you are and everything you stand for, you're better off without him. And personally, I think that guy should jump off a cliff and burn somewhere. Stupid narrow-minded people and their ignorant ways. /They're/ the bad people.

Thats just awful and totaly rude. if he dosent like it he can just keep it to himself. its not like you were going to automatically hit on him or anything. I dont really have to worry about that though cuz the way I act, talk, and look just screams gay according to most of my friends.

I'd just ignore it. It's hard to be rejected that way by someone you considered a friend, but you know what? If they were ridiculous enough to stop wanting to be friends with you over something like that, they probably weren't worth knowing to begin with.
Maybe someday he'll realize what a jerk he was being and things will change. :[

Rulin' ya universes... Straight men tend to flatter themselves by assuming that all homosexual males are attracted to them. This is where we ignore them.

I expect I shall face very similar situations in, oh, how many days away is April 1st again? Fourteen, I believe. Yes. I'm Anti-April Fool'ing two of my friends by telling them I'm bi. I can't go back on my choice now, whether or not I wreck my own personal life. But that's as may be. *Shrugs.* I'm in a mood for burning bridges.
(If I want to be perverse, I could probably just say something like "it was an April Fool's joke and a test of our friendship. You failed." )
Huh. Close minded people... What a pain.

...since 1992. Haha. Slightly on that note- I'm going to leave it to my friends what they do with the information, who they tell, etc. And if there is a horrible and predictable result... Well, they'll be dealing with the "flip-side" of my mostly relaxed attitude. I tend to get a teensy bit vicious in mood and argue convincingly and brutally when standing up for what I believe is right. Which isn't so good, but that's just how it is.
