I'm tired of the Worst Things thread. It amuses me now and then, but perhaps it is time to be constructive.

But I tend to think most of us are far more interested in the way one holds oneself than the actual words that comes out of our mouths. So perhaps this is a bit more complex.

Here's my starting example:

"Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell someone you are- you aren't."

The people in the scene I most respect hold themselves with such poise that I feel they are steller examples of this saying from Englands own Iron Maiden.

I think my quote is a good thing to say.

Depending on the situation, I've found that the best thing one can say is absolutely nothing.

Ah, but would that qualify for a "Best thing a Pagan can say", if nothing is said?

Heheheh...
The best thing a Pagan can say is not unlike the best thing anyone else can say.

The Truth.

Wicca is fifty some odd years old started by Gardner.

Modern Day Spiritualism is a hundred some years old based on The Fox Sisters.

Pagan is just an umbrella term.

Pagan does not equal nature lover.

There we go.

Care to volley an example?

Not really, I prefer to give other impetus. wink

However, I will give more explanation...
The nature of one's spirit is carried upon their breath, to use it to ply false is-
Oh, rather, I should address this from a less pseudo-mystical angle.
Basically, the best thing one can say, regardless of religion (altho this is actually contrary to some religions... however, I am not explicitly looking at this from a theological perspective), to garner respect and prestige for such a faith (and by association, it's followers) is any educated and factual point. Spreading disinformation and Vlading (Mr. Darking) do little to dispell dirty rumours and existant prejudices... and rarely lead to anyone escaping ignorance... rarely. ninja

I've found that the best thing to say is, "I don't know everything," and be open to new information.

And, always cross-reference said new information.

And, always cross-reference said new information.
This is an important one.

Going along the same lines as Fiddler's "cross-reference new information" line, I'd say that a good thing to remember under any circumstances is that it does not necessarily require a source to dispute an unsourced statement. I've seen a lot of pagans play the reverse-proof card much to my dismay.

"Prove me wrong" isn't valid until you have something other than yourself claiming that you're right.

Another adage I've heard that I can't remember the source (for all I know, I may be my own source here):
Following the will of your god(s) is not what I object to. Assuming that you always know the will of your god(s) and that it always agrees with what you're currently doing is.
