Pretty much anyone who can write their own songs and lyrics doesn't suck.
With an exeption for gangster rap.

I have this growing hate for people who don't like a band because they're popular. I know I go on about this, but it angers me.
"I only liked MCR before they were popular...."
well, guess what?
THEY'RE THE SAME BAND.
It's not like they grew old and started playing smooth country/jazz.
I also get happy when a band I like gets kinda popular, because you hear them more, and more people like them.

But if people don't like them for a good reason, like it isn't their style of music, I'm not bothered.
And they CAN (gaspgasp) play their instruments and sing.
Unlike some people, they don't hire people to play their music, and they don't synthesize it 1000000 times like pop artists.

I think anyone who puts emotion into their work is a good band/singer.

i get that all the time from most of my friends...i adore mcr but evryone well almost everyone is like 'wtf r u talking abt tehy suck' and it gets soooo annoying cuz if someone appreciates a band that i dont like i just say i dont like them i dont tell ppl they suck b/c to them they dont suck and to me mcr doesnt suck so ppl need to get their foots out of their asses and grow some balls and just b nice abt stuff geez...i hate stupid ppl <3

I don't get it either.

Most of the time, people just say 'I DON'T KNOW. I JUST DON'T LIKE THEM.' to cover up for the fact that they don't have a real reason.

To cover this truth up, I've even heard people say that Gerard's singing is WHINY.

No. That's like the LAST thing Gerard's voice is. Nice try.

Then another friend of mine said that on Welcome To The Black Parade, his voice was 'grating'.

I've never heard anything wrong with Gerard's voice. Seriously.

I think people just like dissing bands that are popular because they get it worked into thier mind that 'Well, if I DON'T like something that everyone else DOES like, then that makes me different. And if I'm different, that instantly means I'm cool because obviously I have a GOOD reason for disliking them! Yeah!'
