A couple of years ago my mom bought an electronic scale, but not a people scale, a food scale. You put the bowl/cup/plate on the scale before turning it on then it doesn't calculate the containers weight so you know exactly how much you're eating. Because sometimes the serving sizes in cups vs. grams/ounces, differs and you are eting more than you should.

I've got one of these, and you're so right, BobbySoxer01, it's great to have. I discovered that what I thought of as a bowl of cereal (because it filled the bowl, you see?) was actually two servings' worth of calories. Now I know better!
