Yeah...some parents *coughminecough* find the whole "MCR saves lives" thing rather frightening. My mother seems to think the band is brainwashing me...to do what? I don't know. Be more gothy? shoot something? perhaps. She just tries to direct me away from as much "Dark" material as possible. So that may not help with all parents. she does like WTTBP though....how strange.

moon_child_27 well, I find the fact that IBYMB does not have a parental advisory sticker on it surprising. It has more curse words in it than the other cds do. YOu could tell this to your mother, and say that, since you're not a delinquent from listening to that, then you should be fine listening to the others. if I told her that, then she'd take IBYMB away....and that would be bad.

Huh. I'm surprised Bullets is the one she'll let you listen to. I can understand Revenge a bit though, because of the bloody people. Er; I haven't read the previous posts, but some ideas;;; Tell her some of the good stuff they've done. (Donating money to charities, etc.) Tell them that they are a band to save lives, not trying to convince you to kill yourself. Get her to listen to them. If she's not a fan of rock, then play some of their quieter songs... My mom doesn't mind MCR or any of my favourite bands, "as long as they're not screaming." xp Other than that, I'm not sure. How old are you btw? You could like, compromise an age when you're "old enough"... scratch that, might not be such a good idea. For the longest time all of my family apologized to me when they swore and I was like -Gr. Because I don't hear it a billion times anyway. Anywho- convince her that it wouldn't be such a bad thing if you grew up to be like them; that they're cool people. -Sorry if this makes no sense... I never make any sense.-

Oh - and, if you live in the states and your parents don't like Bush;;; Just say that even if they were as she imagined them, they have to be better role models than him.

Okay, so I can't remember all what is said in this issue of Kerrang!, so you'll probably have to read it yourself to see if there is anything worthy of convincing your parents of anything. And if so, what. And instead of posting the link to each page (there are twelve), I'll just put this here.

Some CD's have the Parental Advisory sign even when the cd may swear one extreme word in the whole cd like "********". That may be the only cuss word AT ALL, but it has the warning. You can explain this to your mother. MCR has very little swearing, except for Our Lady Of Sorrows lol.

Hmm.... tell her their story. Better yet, let her read a few articles about them (it worked for me! I especially recommend the articles in Blender and Spin, PM me if you need the links.)The guys in MCR were bullied and teased in highschool, they've gone through heartache and heartbreak, but they rose above it to become what they are now.

My parents dont care what I listen to... they never really did. They figure they cant change my opinion so why try. Its the one thing they're actually remotely nice to me about.
