Well, technically it is morally wrong in their culture more so than in christianity, and within their government system it's legal, whereas something like that could never happen in america or at least I don't think so, mainly we have a more active society where the people protest more and we have many gay people within our government.

It's sad that in some parts of the world just because of your preference you can be completely shunned from society or even killed. I've heard stories like this from the Middle East.

Since really, that's a terrible violation of human rights! D< This has me all riled up.
I don't think that such actions should be allowed, even though the State law in Iran permits them; it's impossible for people to even protest against what happens, as they'd become a victim themselves, if that report is anything to go by.
One of the problems in relation to Middle Eastern countries, is that Islam condemns same-sex relations to my knowledge, and the government law isn't seperate from religious law. Aside from sexual orientation, it's highly probable that people of different religions and nationalities are heavily descriminated against, to say the least.

On a further note, I think the discussion might benefit from some links to human rights related websites. In issues as serious in affecting individuals' lives as these, it really isn't enough to just be aware of what's happening, we should really try to make a difference; so I've included Amnesty International and other similar sites.

Srsly, wtf happened to the Middle East? waaaay back in the day, it was just peachy y'know? Persia was a great empire! Nowadays it's such a mess sad It makes me kinda sad. I think, since religion got this... serious, it's all gone down the drain. The general belief in "God", in my opinion, has brought little but problems. Christianity and Islam are, no doubt, the two most violent and extreme religions today. And that makes me really sad. These people don't KNOW that they're doing god's bidding. If there is some greater deity, he/she would probably be pretty damn ashamed of his/her worshippers.
Do they really think that their god would want them to go do horrible things to other people!
It's just disgusting!
Agh sometimes I wish for an apocalypse (or a deathnote) just so the world would be rid of such idiots.
(not to mention that a post-apocalyptic life, assuming that there would be any depending on how said apocalypse is carried out, would be pretty exciting! living for the sake of living!)
