The Bookstore Dilemma

The only place that sells BL or yaoi (besides Gravi and loveless) is the local anime store, and the yaoi shelves are always being crowded by other fangirls and boys.

The only Dilemma i've ever had was when I wanted to buy my first BL manga, and having to ask my mom.

It happend about 2ish (i was 12-13) years ago. I had been "reaserching" (if you could call it that) Loveless for awhile, and really wanted to read it. So one day while at borders I was looking around the Manga section with my sister when i noticed that they had loveless, so I took a moment to flip though it. After awhile my sister had made her selection, and it was time to go find out mom and dad, so taking a deep breath i put it back and go with her to the Kids/Young Adults section. After a bit I finally managed to pull my mom away to ask her, I was extremely nervous cause i kind of already knew she didnt like that kind of thing our conversation went somthing like this:
Mom: Find anything?
Me: Yea *pause to gather courage* hey can I ask you a question *blushes slightly*
Mom: Sure
Me: Is it ok..If i get a manga where two guys kiss.
Mom: *looks at me funny for awhile before sighing* as long as its just kissing
Me: *cue sigh of releif*

So yea thats the most interesting thing to happen to me so far.

I feel really self conscious when I buy BL Manga at the local book store. It's almost feels as if I'm buying some porn magazine. And yet at the same time I've carried on a conversation before with someone in the aisles suggesting titles for them. confused

Aside from yaoi or BL manga, I was actually a teensy bit more embarassed by going up to the counter to enquire about the complete works of Oscar Wilde while wearing a waistcoat, trousers and ruffled shirt. Because, I mean...

YES! M'dear, I am nothing if I do not dress like a dandy on a severely regular basis~~ <3 That's just how my style leans.
I actually have a plum coachmans hat with black plumes of feathers on it, if you'll believe me.
It is! It's huge, the one I have, so it's a bit unwieldy to read. T.T

Aside from that, there was an a** at the MCM Expo who, on my friend and I approaching the manga table, actually said something along the lines of "The gay porn is over that way." We weren't even going to look at the BL in the first place, I was out to buy the Furuba fanbook. So I steadfastly avoided him. D< How rude.

my copy is gigantanormous,too, I rescued it from a garage sale where my parents intended to sell it and I was like "NUUU MY CRACK" and went all Gollum over it. xD

I dont' have any stories sad .... I've never been carded or anything... although the borders where I live is silly and doesn't carry Kizuna so I have to order, and there is something funny about book five... anyways, they are also all over... like there isn't a section just for yaoi, so you really have to look for it. Boo for plastic covers...

Ah man, I avoid it like the plague when I see people looking at it, but it's for a good reason.

BAM (Books a Million) has the manga section, and then a row away behind manga is a small little section labled "Mature Manga"

...

You can guess where all the Yaoi is.

So whenever I'm looking at the yaoi titles I feel kinda embarressed cause it's clearly labled mature, and secluded from all the other titles, and like... people know and I keep thinking there thinking: Look at the girl looking at manga porn, she's barely over 13 (I'm 21, but I look like I'm 13 years old XD).

And seriously, some of it's not porn. If I catch people staring I'm like: IT'S NOT PORN! I LIKE THE PLOT!
