AHAHAAH..I remember in seventh grade, during 9th period, my friend Rona and I were in the same class. And she`s Filipino, and then people kept asking her if she was from Hawaii...

The room just went silent, then eveyone just laughed. xd

They say I don't even look Asian. And I tell them that I'm Filipino
and they just look at me weird. Then I give them another hint: "I'm from the Philippines."
And then they say, "Don't know?"
I say, "By Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam???"
They say, "Oh really? You don't look Chinese."
And point out that I don't have their eyes.
WTF.

Your friends can't help it.
They just never thought about the cultures on that side of the world.
I discovered the same situation myself when someone asked me what I was.
I said, "I'm half caucasian, and half Vietnamese." then they were like, "What country is that?."
I just explain, and sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't.

O_o I'm speechless. xd But yeah, there are some people who don't get it sometimes..

I remember one of my Filipino friends went to Texas as a foreign-exchange student. When she told them she was Filipino, some of her classmates thought that Filipinos lived in tree huts, swung from trees and had pet monkeys. O_O They asked her if this was true. Well, there really are people who own pet monkeys... but tree huts and swinging from tree to tree..!? x_x
