If Scotland and England split up... does Scotland get custody of Trident? I mean, it's up there at the moment. Wouldn't be right to uproot it now and drag it down to live with England, where it'd probably be bullied by the other weapons for its Scottish accent. The psychiatrists' bills will be huge. And who's going to pay them? mad

If the Sctos really want to leave, I suppose they can keep what they paid for. It's only fair.

Though, quite where that would leave your public buildings, regiment, civil infrastructure, agricultural subsidies and social support, I'm not quite sure..

I have a feeling there might be more agricultural subsidies if we left England but if you have any evidence my mind would easily be changed.
And I shall not mention what I think of our regiments being cut to regiment for it is rude and has no economic basis but does involve national pride and certain folk who care about money too much.

True, the Scots are dangerously socialist, so I daresay whatever money they do make would be spent on subsidies and social supports.[/dirtytorycynic]

The amalgamations disappoint me, but there were too few recruits, so nothing else could be done.

Well, if they really want it let them have it.

...although I will miss it as part of the UK.

So I was on wikipedia (procastination)

Quote:
Edinburgh is the financial services centre of Scotland and the sixth largest financial centre in Europe in terms of funds under management, behind London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich and Amsterdam,[50] with many large finance firms based there, including: the Royal Bank of Scotland (the second largest bank in Europe); HBOS (owners of the Bank of Scotland); and Standard Life.

Quote:
In 2005, the MoD land holdings in Scotland (owned, leased or with legal rights) was 115,300 hectares representing 31.5% of the MoD's UK estate.

Dicuss.

And I just thaught this was funny.

It's good, but not enough to stop your economy becoming a dried up husk.

Alas.
