The more I listen to them, the less I like them. I've come to realize recently.

Yeah. I used to have them a lot on my playlist, but these days I find myself listening to them less and less. There are a lot more dark-cabaret bands out there now to choose from, with a far more interesting sound.

Indeed.

And also, there are groups that don't have different sounds but I'd still prefer to listen to. Harlequin Jones sounds a LOT like Amanda Palmer, and her music is a lot like the Dresden Dolls, but even then, I find it more likable. The more I hear DD, I just find them more grating on my nerves.

To be fair, I wonder if they're one of those bands that is just better when you hear them live. For instance, I always thought Bella Morte sounded kind of ...cheesy until I saw them open for Hansel und Gretyl (on one of the rare occasions I got out to a concert). Then I was just blown away and started listening to them more. When I listen something by the Dresden Dolls (like 'Changes', for example), I wonder what it would be like to hear that live. It could potentially be a more exciting sound. Maybe their sound is too restricted by having to have it recorded and edited? *shrugs*

Then there are bands that sound better on a recording, only to fail when they get up on a stage.

I love them. I don't have any albums, but I've downloaded a good chunk of music. The song "Girl Anachronism" is my favorite, and I also like "Half Jack" and "Glass Slipper"

There's this one song I like by them it goes like...

Coin operated goi,
Scary but it's true,
He is not a Jew.
He won't dance the horah,
Won't light the menorah,
And it's not a lie,
He ain't even circumcised.
Oi!
Coin operated goi.

I'm not so sure that he's kosher,
Deskite what is in the brochure.
Everything he eats is wrapped in ham.
Plus he tried to pork me in the can.

I should go and ask my Rabbi,
If it's a sin if he and I,
Do it through a small hole in a sheet.
Just big enough to slip my kosher meat.
Groin masticated joy, oh boy!

Coin operated goi,
Can't hang with the Moyles,
He and got the curls.
I say we convert him.
It ain't gonna hurt him.
Well, maybe downbelow,
He will have to undergo,
A groin operation ploy.

His bris we'll perform,
To make his schmuck deformed.
The Moyle gets a dollar,
If he makes him holler.
To make his schmuck more slim,
We'll chop off his foreskin!
Give it to the waiter.
He'll bless it for seder.
We'll nosh on it later.
Oh I want a,
I want a,
I want a,
I want a...
for Rosh hashanah.
A coin operated goi, oh boy!

Coin operated goi,
Scary but it's true,
He was not a Jew.
But honestly, no schitzvah,
He had a Bar Mitzvah.
Now he's kosher too.
He just like me and you,
A coin operated Jew!

Wait actually that's by Voltaire, isn't it?

Yes it is by Voltaire. It's his parody version of the dresden dolls.
I love that song, when i first heard it I couldn't stop laughing.
