My dad just got a boat. We've always had kayaks and dingys and once a big metal thing that we could row about in but never an actual boat..with an engine and everything! Haha. It's just a small one but the front has a little cabin so it's good for taking out to sea, wind hair and salt spray never being two of my favourite combos.

We went to see the puffins in it, there are lots of birds around the cliffs from us but I love the puffins- so cute!

Anyway, I wish I could be mucking about at the beach just now. Jumping of the pier and taking the boat out..getting wetsuit marks around my neck.

Working is so totally heinous.

You have a boat? You have no idea how much I love boats, there was a scene in Wind in the Willows where Ratty (Eric Idle) was saying how much he liked messing about in boats and my eyes welled up.

I felt very silly about it afterwards, and still do, but that's the way it is.

I should go on boats more often. The last time I was on a boat was when I went swimming with seals...

...and one fell on my co-swimmer's head.

I have sudden flashbacks to an Alan Partridge sketch ...

"I'm still under a cow ...."

That's it...I'm going home...

The worst thing about having to move away from home to find a halfway decent job...was leaving my poor little boat behind in Plymouth. Let's face it, there's not many places to sail around here in Hampshire - unless you include Fleet Pond, which I would not...

Oddly enough, I've never actually had a Jolly Roger flag on board. We did on Morning Star of Revelation once...but I also faintly remember a huge, inflatable Cutty Sark whisky bottle. I think Arethusa's crew stole both....Unfortunately, the contents of a remarkably smaller, glass version of the whisky bottle rather put pay to retention of any vivid memories of the time.
