-pauses a few moments to capture the sense of vast potential- Ceremonialists and artists alike are often accused of unforgivable hubris. While I tend to be swayed between arrogance and extreme modesty (read -nervous, shy-), even my most egomaniacal images of the world shuddering at my brushstroke are humbled by what dreams I imagine from this Mastery of the Name. And then I am suddenly brought to my shyness by a feeling that it's far beyond me.

This from a person who believes with every part of her that YHVH intends for His children to become gods themselves.

No, mine are quite robust...
They are just narcoleptic and absent-minded. wink

As far as Mastery of the Name...
What little first-hand I have been able to gleen is that it is an extrapolation of the Idea that Shem said Let there be light and the actual word light which was spoken holds the creative spark, the impetous behind the weaving of existance from the darkness before (this relies on something of a cold dark matter theorey of proto-creation, in that altho nothing existed before creation... the disparate parts to make creation from were sorta there... kinda... it's very complicated, and I only understand a tiny glimmer of it...).
Basically, by speaking the words the Shem spoke to name things and bring them into existance, the act of creating can be reproduced on a much smaller scale.
Ah ha! I am familiar with that. Though, because of other mystic practices, I have only heard it in the context of the Mystery of the Word.

I know you and Wing have no respect for the techniques I practice.
Regardless, what I just sited is a traditional Judaic Mysticism, and of pertenance to the thread.
Also, if you don't mind, this is Realized Conceptualism, not lines and numbers.
Lines would pertain to the seals of Solomon and other, later mystic diagrams.
Numbers, or Numerology, is a far different animal. Even in the Judaic context.

Aesi, your beliefs are fairly strong in keeping with several Gnostic traditions...
In fact, several large denominations of Christianity seek to emmulate Yeushua's example... LDS for one... Lead a Christlike life. wink
Theosis is a common concept. 3nodding

Actually, I have a certain amount of respect for it. I just pull the piss out of it because I can and I have told you this XP. I slag my friends, I slag myself too.

The magic of lines and numbers is a Terry Pratchet reference from Granny Weatherwax. All magic which is not empathetic.

... what Wing said. ninja

Wing... I respect you as mystic... but you must realize siting Pratchet for mystical classification is the equivalent of throwing yourself into the dryer with 1,001 sheets of Downy snugglty soft dryer sheets... heart

Seriously tho, I do find it mildly insulting when it is used as a catch all for any mysticism which isn't a specific kind. The same way I take offense at being called a Pagan.

I refuse to be defined by what I am not, and a dismisive which lumps all groups that aren't one of us together is mildly insulting to me, in that it totally discounts the differences between said groups.

But this is hardly the forum for this little particular of mine. sweatdrop

I do hope that was aimed at Maggi and not me.

That's actually not true. I have a lot of respect for people who can devote that much energy to memorising and using all that stuff competantly. Most of it completely baffles me.

It's just entirely different from the way I would practise.

My apologies, I misinterpretted it as a statement of contempt, as Granny Weatherwax used it. xd

As long as your mystic powers aren't "pink dot on the wall"...
