Ankoko is the stereotypical villain; he's power-hungry, willing to do whatever it takes to get it, and has an almost intimate interest in battles that could potentially or prove to be challenging. Despite this, he is calm and willing to avoid fights if he can when they're unnecessary unless he's hungry or angry and just needs to deal with that stress in a way he enjoys. However, somewhere beneath this demonic behavior, the humanity he abandoned is still there. He's incapable of true kindness, but is able to emulate it perfectly, and he does grow attached to those he spends significant time around. He has a strong sense of reason and a faithful obedience to Armageddon.
♕ BIOGRAPHY ❞
Born in Mizuho soon after the world was split in two after the Kharlan War, he was trained in the ninja artes, and mastered what he was taught. He grew up with a woman named Chidori, who was among the Mana Lineage and deemed a Chosen eligible to go on a Journey of Regeneration, and would have been the first Chosen of Tethe'alla to undertake such. The two later fell in love in their teenage years. For all her life, Chidori was displeased with how the role of Chosen was just thrust upon her. She couldn't bring herself to put much faith and trust in a goddess that didn't seem to fit among the original beliefs of her tribe. Furthermore, she couldn't bring herself to accept the task of saving a world that didn't even know of her existence, and resented the fact that a Journey of Regeneration would succeed at the cost of her life. Ankoko agreed with her resolve, and helped her build the courage to refuse the task she would be given when the time comes. In her time, Chidori didn't have to start her Journey of Regeneration at the age of sixteen since Mithos' experiments in preparing Martel's vessel was in its early testing stages, and he had not yet figured out the right age the Chosen should start their journeys. She instead had to begin her journey somewhere in her adult years. When an angel descended upon a shrine to Martel in Mizuho to bestow the oracle upon Chidori, Ankoko was present as moral support. But, when she voiced her refusal to undertake the journey, the angel struck her down right then and there, and ascended to leave her for dead. It had all happened so fast that there wasn't even time for Ankoko to react. He tried to carry her off to get medical aid, but she died in his arms before he could even get her off the floor. Before the shrine attendants took her body to prepare it for burial as well as drag Ankoko off, he discreetly took the Cruxis Crystal she wore.
That marked the beginning of a change in Ankoko. A hatred for the whole world, a world that placed a fate on his beloved that she didn't even have a say in, grew. He started to desire power, and stopped at nothing to gain it. Chidori's Cruxis Crystal was initially meant to be a treasured memento of their love, but after learning of the power one could potentially grant, he started to use it for his cause, applying it to his chest. Disappearing from his village, he started a personal quest to obtain knowledge of the most powerful artes known to man, even the forbidden ones. In his travels, Ankoko found a demon weakened from being trapped in a mana-rich environment after Niflheim was sealed by Mithos. Intrigued by the powerful hatred it sensed in his heart, the demon sought to forge a pact with him---if he agreed to search for the Forbidden Book of Demon Lords, the key to helping it return to Niflheim, the demon would allow Ankoko to harness his demonic energy. Ankoko agreed, as the pact was just the thing he needed to enable himself to use an evil arte called Soul Stealer, which would enable him to consume the souls of those he slayed to increase his strength. With that, he even killed the demon and took his soul. Then, he returned to Mizuho, where he razed the entire village to strengthen himself, and left when his appetite was satiated. Very few survived that incident, and went on to slowly rebuild Mizuho.
Constant use of forbidden and evil artes, harnessing demonic power, his powerful hatred of the world, and the Cruxis Crystal he used were a combination that transformed him into a demon. The Cruxis Crystal became a black deeper than the darkness inside Shadow's temple, which showed how demonic he had become. However, that came with a catch: mana started becoming toxic to him. But, due to being born a mortal, an organism that originally thrived on mana, he could tolerate the poisonous effects of mana far longer than normal demons. Despite that, he was still a being that possessed enough horrific power to rain terror on the world of Tethe'alla. He eventually chanced upon a dying scholar with a very odd yet powerful soul, and was intent on slaying him to collect his soul. However, he was intrigued with the tenacity he displayed even while weak and dying. Ankoko allowed the man to join him, and fused his soul with his own blade, which was reborn as the demon blade Armageddon. The partnership eventually became a strong friendship.
For at least a century, with the help of his new blade, Ankoko was a sign of terror to the people of Tethe'alla. He was, by all means, unstoppable. However, his reign came to an end with the interference of Cruxis. Luring Ankoko to Mizuho by using both Yuan's and Kratos' souls as bait, Mithos was able to seal Ankoko away. To achieve this, he had the help of an angel under his command. This angel radiated with extremely powerful mana, which took about a century to accomplish. The angel used not only his mana, but also his soul and body, to become the door of Ankoko's seal. It is on a small, distant islet of the village that a stone alter was erected to serve as a reminder to the people of Ankoko's terror. However, the legend became lost in history and the island forgotten. And, it is precisely because of this that he was able to free himself.
When Ratatosk changed the laws of mana after sealing the Ginnungagap, he unknowingly began the breaking of the seal. Mana was the key to keeping Ankoko locked away. The mana that was made to seal him began to flow towards the Great Tree, therefore slowly weakening the seal. Now, five years after this event, Ankoko has broken out of his seal. In rage, he slaughtered the people of Mizuho and is now on a mission to regain the power he had lost and fulfill the goal he and Armageddon had been working towards so long ago. This time, however, they're taking a different approach and doing things Daermod's way.

▌Spacial Rift : Armageddon's power centers around rifts that connect two different points, even across galaxies. He can open them at will to allow for instantaneous travel between worlds or even just jumping five feet ahead.
▌Dimensional Boxes : The creation of pockets of space outside the plain of existence is another power of Armageddon's. He's able to access these at will and though it could be useful in trapping the enemy, he is actually rather picky on why he creates them. The only known one at this time is the soul pouch that he stores souls to feed Ankoko.

Even without the spacial powers provided by Armageddon, Ankoko is a powerful being. As an experienced shinobi of Mizuho, he has many ninja talents to use. As both a sword user and a man of elven blood, he has an array of physical and magical skills at his disposal as well. And, as a demonic entity, he has access to demonic abilities. Ankoko is a very versatile combatant and don't be fooled by his recovering state; he doesn't need all his spells and abilities to win a fight.

▌DEMONIC ARTE Reaping Claw : Temporary seals away a person's ability to use spells of their own. This only works in sealing mage-like magic.
▌DEMONIC ARTE Black Blood Slash : Uses his own blood to create and fling sharp blades at his enemies. Yes, even his blood is dangerous. And, yes, it is indeed black.
▌DEMONIC ARTE Possession : A standard yet never-underrated demonic arte that allows him to temporary take control of someone's body and mind with physical contact. Animals or "non-sentient" creatures possessed by him typically twist into demonic monstrosities and are unlikely to survive de-possession, but humans and sentient creatures remain unchanged with a much higher chance of surviving.
▌DEMONIC ARTE Shadowdance : The ultimate of his artes that is a mixture of ninja and demonic power that allows him to control the very shadows himself to morph them into weapons or hide himself perfectly in the dark. The potential for Shadowdance is limited only by the user's imagination.
▌MYSTIC ARTE Abyssal Grave : "I've had enough. Drown in the everlasting darkness of my despair." Ankoko's mystic arte is achieved by outwardly projecting his soul through the Cruxis Crystal embedded on his chest. By doing so, the battlefield is covered in a thick black liquid that will suck his opponents in and drown them, draining their energy and will to fight. Afterwards, he will attack ferociously with his blade, severely injuring all in his path. His allies will be protected by temporarily being sent to a pocket dimension via Armageddon.

▌The Cruxis Crystal on his chest is his most prized possession next to Armageddon. It not only helps him survive both the incomplete conversion into a demon and the mana-rich environments that would normally be toxic to him, but it also (supposedly) holds Chidori's soul and doubles as her memento. He will protect it with his life.
▌The only reason he agreed to try this new method is because of Daermod's influence. He believes it's a far less violent path towards their goals. It's not the path Ankoko prefers, but it's one he's willing try regardless.
▌The black streak in his hair is physical proof that he still has his humanity, even if it is locked away. If he were to ever completely convert into a demon, his hair would turn pure white. However, that isn't an option for him as it would cause him to forget his reasons for fighting and he isn't willing to forget his beloved.
▌While his hair is predominantly white, it can actually revert back to black. This typically happens when he is totally relaxed, but can also happen in the rare event where he feels genuine emotion. This is something a person isn't likely to witness even by accident as Ankoko is never not alert and aware of his surroundings; and, in the event that he isn't, he is never without Daermod there to rouse him. If someone does witness this particular state, it isn't an accident. It means they've earned his absolute trust.
▌Ankoko and Daermod have a very friendly relationship and neither can stand to be away from the other for long.
▌The relationship between Ankoko and Daermod is a secret one due to Daermod's only form of communication being telepathy with those that make physical contact with his vessel, Armageddon, and wish to give Ankoko the appearance of an all-powerful being. This often leaves Ankoko looking like an insane man that talks to himself, but it's an image he's willing to live with. Even if he sometimes gets angry and tosses his sword across the room while telling it to shut up.
▌The name "Ankoko Raguna" is not his real name. As Mizuho custom has always dictated, a ninja is given a true name that is known only by their parents and the one they marry; Ankoko Raguna is his alias name. He has only ever told his true name to Chidori even though they were never married. To this day, she is the only one outside his parents to ever know it; not even Daermod knows it. Which is something Ankoko appreciates greatly because it would be very easy for him to learn it, but he actively avoids doing so.
▌Before he was a demon, Ankoko was a half-elf. Though Mizuho is a village where prejudice is low, he wasn't free from it. He still suffered from some of the same hate other half-elves went through. For example, Chidori's parents didn't approve of his relationship with her for many reasons, his race being one of them. For this reason, he detests discrimination and has a soft spot for those suffering from it. Even if they are an enemy. Don't hold onto this being a key to mercy, however; his empathy fades quickly.
▌Having been raised in a village of ninjas, Ankoko is a master at stealth, reconnaissance, and other intelligence work. Combined with his ability over shadows and space as well as his ninja combat abilities, this makes him both a formidable foe and a valuable ally to have.
▌Ankoko can't control his possession ability. Since it relies on physical contact, he wears gloves and keeps the majority of his body covered to avoid possessing everything that touches him.
▌Fun fact: Ankoko's ears behave like animal ears. They readjust depending on his current mood, flick when picking up small or distant sounds, and can be moved individually.
▌He does occasionally do work for the Organization in exchange for information they have gathered. Though he's willing to work with them as a means to reach his goal, he has no intention of becoming a member of their ranks. Ankoko knows full well that the information he gets may not be entirely accurate and isn't trying to be trustworthy; he hopes the Organization is smart enough to expect the same from him.

The original form of Daermod, the soul dwelling within Armageddon. Once a member of an ancient race of watchers tasked with recording the events of the worlds, Erdamod performed his task perfectly for several millennia, but he was always different from his fellow watchers. Unlike the rest, Erdamod became invested in the people and stories he recorded; growing attached to certain "characters" and rooting for certain goals. Despite this, he made sure to always follow the one absolute law of their people to never get involved. That is, until he did get involved and found himself imprisoned and facing execution. But, Erdamod refused to let that happen; refused to let all the stories he recorded be lost with him. He escaped and fled to a distant world where he was found by Ankoko in a weak, dying state. Their pact was mutually beneficial and was, at first, a matter of convenience. Now, however, Erdamod truly adores Ankoko and wishes only to see his wishes fulfilled. Without all the unnecessary bloodshed if possible, but he is accommodating.
