███ IN DEPTH ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃
Weapon ❀ A four-sectioned staff with an ornate pattern given to him by his parents.
Magic ❀ Cassius' magical ability is pretty standard for Glaciem. He can create solid ice constructs from any source of water. The denser the source of water, the grander the creation. ❀ The thing that sets his constructs apart from others', however, is that it doesn't melt like ice should. It does, of course, but it can survive temperatures most ice can't. This makes it the perfect ice for creating ice sculptures and is nicknamed "nevermelt ice". ❀ He can use his magic to create extra sections of his staff and gain an even greater ranged advantage. Cassius hasn't actually shown this to anyone yet save for his retainer.
Other Notable Skills or Abilities ❀ Art is his most notable talent. He's especially known for the ice sculptures he makes with his magic. ❀ He's gifted with instruments, particularly the harp. ❀ Leaf flutes are a secret talent of his. ❀ He's well-versed in the Language of Flowers. For this reason, he is also a skilled gardener. ❀ Even though he's not much of a warrior, he is strategic. It isn't something he gets to showcase often and right now, the only ones who really know of this talent are his brother and retainer. ❀ Though not his preferred weapon, he is decent enough with a bow.

Dislikes ❀ Brown-nosing Nobles ❀ Strangers among the knights ❀ Being put under the spotlight without warning ❀ Going outside the borders of the city ❀ Overly Spicy Food ❀ Alcoholic Beverages ❀ Hunting ❀ The Mountains
Fears ❀ Cassius does have great trust in the knights that protect his family, but there will always be a part of him that fears them. New recruits are especially subjected to this mistrust. ❀ He's well aware of his father's distaste for people like him. Cassius often fears what the man truly thinks of his youngest heir.
Secrets ❀ Named his staff after his parents. For some reason, Cassius is embarrassed to reveal this.
Extras ❀ There are quite a few places in Bellenza that sport his ice sculptures, most of them in the homes of nobles. The one he's the most proud of is the grand sculpture of Viulenza and Bellissima displayed at the Dragonspire Tower temple. ❀ He's known to bring stray animals into the palace to groom and feed them. The maids that clean his chambers are often not impressed by all the fur. ❀ Cassius' favorite childhood game was hiding his parents' crowns for them to find. He's mostly grown out of it, but sometimes he just can't help himself. ❀ Cassius likes to use flowers as a means of secretly expressing things to others. Receiving flower bouquets from him randomly typically means he's trying to say something, but most people don't understand the Language of Flowers, so they usually don't get the message. ❀ It's actually unknown if the reason for his soft voice is because he's an introvert or because of the damage to his throat. People like to believe it's the former since it's the less tragic of the two.
███ PERSONALITY ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃
The first thing people notice about Cassius is that he's introverted and quiet. He prefers his own company or the company of a select few over large crowds and when he is present in social events, he doesn't talk much. If he does speak up, Cassius is incredibly soft-spoken, his voice rarely manifesting in anything stronger than a whisper. This makes it hard for him to contribute to conversation or express opinions as people don't usually hear him. Cassius isn't all that popular with nobles, who prefer to talk about his siblings (particularly his brother) instead, but if one took the time, they'd find he has a strong reputation with the less fortunate citizens of Bellenza. This is due to his compassion and generosity. It isn't unusual for people to see him giving to those in need or generally concerning himself with the problems of others. This creates the perfect image of a gentle person; which is entirely true. Cassius isn't capable of the same feats as the rest of his family. Cruelty and mercilessness just doesn't sit well with him, even when he knows it's necessary.
Cassius is very studious and artistic. He has always preferred creativity and the power of knowledge over physical strength. Because of this, he is highly intelligent and is always seeking more. Cassius is also known to be excessively resigned, especially when it comes to decisions that are made for him by others. While he isn't completely submissive to the idea of fate and does protest from time to time, there are some things in life he feels are irreversible and it's better to just accept it than fight.
███ HISTORY ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ ▃▃▃▃
As a child, Cassius was different than the person people know him as now. He was willful and energetic, often shadowing his older sisters and causing trouble with them around the castle or finding his way into his elder brother's lessons to sit on his lap while the older prince studied even when he was scolded for distracting his brother. Like his siblings, Cassius was pampered. He never lacked the affection of his parents and if he wanted something, all he had to do was ask for it. However, his parents fretted over Cassius much more than they did with his brother and the girls. Cassius may not have seemed like it when he was a child, but he was born frailer than most. As he grew, he became less and less vulnerable to the harsh conditions of Glaciem's environment, but that didn't stop the king and queen from worrying about him.
Because of this, he spent most of his childhood inside or on castle grounds under the watchful eye of his parents or the palace staff. Starting at age eight, his father started taking him out into the mountains to teach him how to hunt; Cassius, being the gentlest of the Ciam family, didn't necessarily enjoy it. But, it was a chance to spend solo time with his father, so he endured the hunts. At the age of ten, however, these hunting trips came to a horrifying end and the person Cassius became began to blossom.
Cassius doesn't remember all the details of that day. He knows it was to be his first real hunt, meant to put everything his father had taught him over the last two years to the test, and the blizzard that he got lost in is a vivid memory. After that, it gets fuzzy and the only detail he can recall is the armor of a knight and cold steel against his skin. What happened immediately after that is lost to him; his next memory is waking up to the worried, furious expressions of his family and wrappings secured around his throat. It didn't take an intelligent mind to put the pieces together and he was never the same after that day. All his energy and playfulness depleted, leaving behind paranoia and fear; suddenly, every stranger he met had a knife behind their backs and had to be avoided whenever it was possible. He mostly grew out of this stage, nowadays simply cautious, but the attempt on his life left not only a physical scar, but a mental one as well that hasn't completely healed and possibly never will.
The assassin responsible for the attempt on his life was found and executed only a few months after the incident, but the reason behind the attempt and the one that hired them are unknown.
