Physical Description: Ollandin is an anxious young man and it shows in the way he carries himself. His shoulders are almost always stiff and tight, like he expects to be pranked at ny moment. He is fit enough to handle himself in a scrap, if it comes to that, though he leans more toward the slender side than to bulk. Dark as an Igenite, he has warm-honey amber eyes, somehow in contrast with the angles of his features. Deep black hair is long and hangs in waves to his shoulders when it's unbound, which isn't often. Though broad smiles are not commonplace, they do show off a deep pair of dimples.
Personality: Anxious, as mentioned. Ollandin is tightly-strung. He isn't nervous, per se, but he is certainly uncomfortable in strange company and any sudden change will make him withdraw to reconsider whether he'll stay in a situation or retreat. He isn't a coward -- he'll speak and stand up for himself when he feels the need -- but he will go out of his way to avoid a cofrontation if he can. Just don't back him into a corner.
Without an outlet or escape, Ollandin can be vicious in his effort to regain some space. Fight or flight moments definitely land him squarely on "fight". He does not play by rules when pushed that far, either, so challenge him at your peril.
Those who don't insist on pushing his personal boundaries will discover that there is a kind-hearted young man behind the defenses. Perhaps because of his anxiety, he is patient with those who need it and considerate of leaving space and peace for those around him. He is a thinker and loves riddles and puzzles. He despises pranks, but he loves a good joke.
And his demeanor changes entirely in his twin's company. When Ollanmar is nearby, his defenses ease a bit. He is less reserved and more vocal, seemingly more comfortable in his own skin. Which isn't to say things are always easy between them: tere is no greater competition than the one that exists between Olladin and his brother. Everything is a gme of one-up with them and winning carries bragging rights for a long time. Ollanmar can at times be his gretest enemy, but he is also Ollandin's best friend and he would go to the ends of Pern for his brother's sake.

History: Ollandin was the first twin born by seven-and-a-half minutes. He was born to Ollan, a young woman who had come to Western as part of a trade caravan because they knew that she would likely deliver on the road if she'd not come in with them. The birth was relatively easy and both boys were healthy and strong. Ollan chose to stay a while, planning to rejoin the caravan when they were a few months older. Winter had other plans.
A fever took Ollan when the boys were six months old, and they were fostered in the creche instead. No real problem for the boys who were cheerful, playful babies and grew up without any real inconvenience or hardship. Olladin was always willing to do his bit to help with chores and responsibilities, and when he was old enough, he and Ollanmar dared each other to be the first to Impress, and to bear the heat of the sands the longest without squirming or shifting their feet.
When First Fall happened, the boys were separated. Safe, indivisually, but apart. Ollandin spent the time in a storage cavern, hoping for the best and convinced of the worst. It was the return of Thread that frayed his nerves and brought what had been infrequent bursts of anxiety rushing to the fore. He spent a full Turn unwilling and unable to be separated from his brother without exhaustive fits of distress. He has since calmed enough to be able to even sleep through a night without Ollanmar by his side, but he's always more comfortable when they're together.
It is his hope to be able to be truly independent in the future, but he's taking little steps. Manageable steps.
