Name: Prueh
Age: 20
Nameday: 3556.02.13
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: lesbian
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider/Searchrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Runnercraft, trained at home by her mother

Physical Description: At about 5', Prueh is a relatively tiny little thing, both in height and build. She's wiry, though, and much stronger than she looks from growing up wrangling runners. Her hair is honey-brown in color, straightish with a slight wave and fine in texture, hanging somewhere between her chin and her shoulders. Her big brown eyes are set in a tanned, roundish face with a high forehead; her eyebrows and wide eyes give her a perpetually concerned expression. She has a wide happy smile, though, when she allows it.

Not much for dresses or skirts, she prefers to wear loose comfortable pants and ankle boots, with sleeveless vest-type tops laced or buttoned up the front. She'll wear longer sleeved shirts beneath her flight gear, though, for the warmth and protection. She prefers muted earth tones.

Personality:
Prueh has a generally happy disposition, despite the look of mild concern she wears. She's not exactly what you'd call a people person, but she doesn't dislike people, though she's friendliest with her wingmates and those she already knows. Something of an introvert, she usually needs some time to decompress after too much socializing, and her preferred decompression method is to knit. Prueh finds knitting relaxing, almost meditative, even though she can easily focus on other things like listening to a harper or carrying on a (admittedly limited) conversation while knitting. She's knitted long enough that she knows how to do something like knit socks pretty much from memory, and she takes requests.

Prueh is possessed of a dogged determination and tenacity. She's a tiny fierce thing who won't stop working on a task until she has accomplished it, even long after she should have just given up (it becomes a matter of principle at that point). A willful, obstinate girl, she can be impossibly bull-headed and persistent when she sets her mind to something. She is contrary as anything and will deliberately do what she's told she can't or shouldn't do just to show 'em. And oh, how Prueh hates relinquishing control. The girl can't stand not being in charge of a project. She likes to control a task from start to finish, and if she requires help on something she will hover and supervise and drive you up the wall. She'd really much rather do it herself (and so would everyone else, pretty much).

Curious as a feline, she wants to know ALL THE THINGS. Prueh loves nothing more than poking at mysteries, sticking her nose in unexplored places and shaking the box to try to figure out what's inside. She is quick to pick through knotty problems, patiently studying them and analyzing them until she can take them apart and find out how they tick. She loves learning new things and is a quick study, even (and especially) when she is studying on her own. And her patience usually pays off -- she's always finding new mysteries to pick apart. She's quite patient -- she knows she'll wear down the mysteries she finds eventually and they will spill their secrets.

Positive Trait List Persistent, good natured, inquisitive, patient
Negative Trait List Contrary, control freak, deeply introverted, obstinate

History:
Prueh was born on a small runner hold on the border of Keroon and Igen, on the edge of the desert. She grew up around runners, and could ride practically before she could walk. She learned the ways of runners from her mother Petrah, a Runnercraft Journeyman; before she hit her teens she was caring for the hold's runners, feeding and grooming them and mucking their stalls. And riding. Lots of riding. Prueh was happiest around her runner friends, and they loved her in kind. By the time she reached age 17, the girl was ready to settle into a career of runner rearing and training and eventually figured she would take over the hold.

Then Thread returned.

It wiped out over half the hold's stock, destroying the fragile non-stone buildings. Prueh and her mother managed to make it to the root cellar, but the rest of the hands weren't so lucky. Prueh was devastated and furious -- Thread wasn't supposed to come back! It had been destroyed! The songs said so!

Several sevendays later, a dragon appeared in the sky over the hold. It was a searchrider from Benden Weyr, looking for likely Candidates for becoming a dragonrider. Prueh was fascinated by the enormous blue beast -- she'd never seen a dragon before, much less ridden on one, and she fell immediately in love with it. Him? She had no clue. Then the dragon spoke to her, telling her she'd make a fine dragonrider! Before she could react, the dragonrider had swept her up and was hauling her to the dragon's back with the announcement she was going to live at Benden Weyr now and that he'd come back for her things. There were eggs on the sands!

Prueh arrived at Benden with just enough time for the most rudimentary of training as a Candidate before it was time for her to stand with the other potential dragonriders for the clutch to hatch. And hatch it did, dragonets spilling across the Hatching Ground looking for Theirs. One dark brown hatchling headed for her, and as she looked into his whirling rainbow eyes he said his name was Inobeth. Would she be His? Of course she said "Yes!"

As a female brown rider, Prueh was treated like an aberration by most of the male riders. While there had been female riders of blues and even browns in the past, not many of them were from Benden, which held traditional values above all else (except their vaunted legacy, of course). The girl was fairly miserable there, though she did complete her Weyrling training even better than some of the boys. Inobeth discovered a knack for Searching during sweeps, and this gave the pair the break they needed from the torment, flying all over the eastern part of the continent by themselves looking for new Candidates.

When Western Weyr was mentioned to Prueh as a transfer option a couple of Turns later, she and Inobeth jumped at the opportunity. Maybe Western would be less… unkind. And it was, and is! She has settled in very nicely at her new home, riding Searches and fighting Thread.

Other:

DRAGON
Name: Inobeth
Age: 4, shelled 3572. 06.17 at Benden Weyr
Color: Brown
Size: 32'
Physical Description: Tightly compact and muscular, small for a brown, hide so dark it's nearly black, golden brown swirls and spots across his shoulders and back

Personality: Inobeth knows he's smaller than most browns and even some blues, but he doesn't let that stop him from living large compared to other dragons. He's fearless and bold but not pushy or aggressive (unless he's fighting Thread), then all bets are off because he has a JOB to do! This brown is nearly as nimble in the air as a blue; he is able to turn on a wingtip and chars Thread with a short, wide burst of flame; he's got the stamina of a brown, though, and can stay in the air through an entire 'Fall. Around other dragons, he's fairly light-hearted in temperament, a happy, friendly fellow. He loves flying almost as much as his rider does, and he loves riding Search as much as she does as well. He has a real talent for picking out good Candidates for Impression, with the vast majority of his selections going on to Impress.

Inobeth chose Prueh because of her quiet determination, obstinance, and patience; he felt he could benefit from her patience and stability and help tone down some of her control-freak nature, and that she could benefit from his boldness and sociability. Together they are a perfect pair.

Prueh reads really well so far. Just a bit of a minor thing, which is that by saying that her flaws work to her advantage that mitigates the negative trait aspect. So I would need some stronger negative traits or at least an explanation of how they work against her too.
