[Duel] Facing the Sheild (Lorelei x Dreki)

Lorelei approached the border of the Storm born pride, it had taken her a long time to find out how she had to go about this joining since she had not thought to ask the group she had met in the rogue lands how she would join if she so chose. She finally learned after a number of weeks that she had to fight in a duel and win to gain entrance to the pride. She wanted the protection of the pride, but she wasn't so sure about duels, nor did she really want to serve as a thrall so she would have to learn on her paws if she wanted to gain all she could from this pride.

Today was going slowly, which seemed to have become the norm for her so she wasn’t terribly surprised by it. Passing rogues tended to avoid their borders, and the few who did show up seemed to always come when she was off shift. Figures, she thought with a grumble. At least she was able to test her skills in the evenings with Hjalmar.

Shaking her had, Dreki meandered down the edge of their territory with a grumpy expression on her face, her bright coat making her very obvious to anyone nearby. She could be sneaky when she wanted to be, but why bother with that now? Any distraction was a welcome one.

That said, she still frowned when a flash of something pink went by her vision, and she turned to look at the approaching lioness. A rogue? They had the eye of someone on a mission, and Dreki had a gut feeling she knew what it as.

With a huff, she trotted closer and growled, “Stop where you are and state your business.” If she was indeed a challenger, then Dreki would face her. If not, she’d chase the twit off.

Lorelei stopped and said "I want to fight you in a duel." She was nervous and she didn't have any duel fighting experience. She would have to just do her best and if she lost she could be risking her freedom but that was the rest she would have to take. She couldn't remember if they needed to exchange their names but she didn't think it was important at the moment. She had to get this female to agree to fight her so she could get what she wanted. If she was lucky she would get to fight another day and learn from her mistakes and someday become a member of the Storm borns.

Hm, a challenger, indeed. Well, maybe this day wouldn’t be so boring. Maybe.

Dreki let out a snort at the other female, leaning forward into a crouch as she eyed her up. She seemed nervous, she could tell from her voice, and the Shield Maiden was already judging whether or not this one would make it. She seemed kind of scrawny to her, but perhaps, if the lioness as determined enough. Either way, Dreki wouldn’t be making this easy for her.

After her moment of silence, the lioness growled out, “Alright then. Let’s see what you’ve got.”

Then, with no other preamble, Dreki’dido charged forward with a running jump, flying through the air at her with a roar.

Lorelei fell backward thrown off balance by the sudden fierce attack that she hadn't been expecting so quickly. She attempted to scramble to her feet to get herself in a position where she could actually fight the other female, rather than fumbling about like a young fool. Which currently was what she looked liked as she struggled to put up any sort of decent fight. She really needed to do some training so she would actually stand a chance against a Storm born female. Since clearly they were made of sterner stuff then she was at this point.

She’d caught her off balance, and Dreki as quick to take advantage of it. Whipping herself around, the lioness kicked out at her to send her back on her back once more before she could do much more than stand up.

Instead of taking another swipe at her though, Dreki snorted and started circling. “If you’re aiming to become one of the storm, you’re going to need to do better than this.” She tsked, “Scrambling about like a cub will get you nowhere here.” She was egging the female on, wanting to see how she would react to her jeers.

Lorelei has knocked down again and thrown way off balance there was no way she was going to win against a skilled warrior like this, she would have to train and grow stronger before she would be able to make a stand and become a freeborn member of the Storm born. She didn't want to give up though since she thought that would be perceived as her being a coward if she didn't at least make some attempt at actual fighting. "I can see that, but I will still fight this duel to its rightful end." She got to her feet and circled the other female then attempted to lung at the Storm born female to attack.

Dreki watched her circle with narrowed eyes, before smirking, “Well, at least you’ve got that going for you. You should take care that your persistence doesn’t get you killed though.” Not that the Stormborn girl would go that far right now. Not unless there was a perceived threat to her pride.

With a swish of her tail, she lunged forward to meet the lioness head to head, grunting as they clashed with each other before snarling and trying to swipe at the other’s head. She ignored the bites and scratches against her sides, adrenaline rushing through her and making her numb to the pain, and instead threw a paw upwards to try and uppercut her chin, aiming to throw her off again and possibly end the duel right then and there.

Lorelei fell hard to the ground she knew she had lost and she hurt, she needed training and she needed it before she would be able to win one of this duels. She nodded to the lioness as she gathered herself. "I'll keep that in mind." She was bloody and hurt but she would heal and try again another day. "So what happens now?" She knew she risked being taken as a thrall and this female was clearly stronger than she was. She would not beg for her self or run away like a cub. Lorelei waited for the females judgment.

The green lioness hopped a few steps back after delivering the blow, shaking herself out before standing up straight. She watched as the other stood up and asked her question, and then shrugged. It was true, she could have forced her to become a Thrall for her now that she has lost, it honestly? Dreki has never cared for the concept of a Thrall. Why couldn’t she just take care of her own den, especially with no mate, no ability t leave the pride, and no one to mess up her belongings.

And if there was the part of her that found the idea of enslaving others deplorable, well, she kept that to herself. The others didn’t care much to ask her about it anyway.

Instead, with a huff, the Shield Maiden turned and started walking back towards the border. “If you’re really so determined to become one of us, then train yourself first. Only the strong can weather our storm.”

Lorelei nodded that was her plan she was relieved that the female was giving her a chance to grow stronger so she would be able to try again. "Thank you." She said and then turned away to go find a cave so she could lick her wounds and rest. Then she would start her training.
