Bleary-eyed and beaten by the events that unfolded in the rogue lands, Midas felt his body ache as he moved through the pride, body chilled and wet from the downpour currently afflicting the lands. After being spooked by the strange wailings of something seemingly unearthly and a raining of stones upon the earth, Midas and his branch of the viking group he had been quickly met up with the rest of the band and collectively the group decided it best to cut their losses and take back the items and thralls they had found.

It was during this time travelling back the Midas has the opportunity to speak with his Captain, who happened to have been struck by one of the falling stones. His injuries hadn’t been severe in any way, however it had shook the lion, Midas didn’t need him to voice that to know. During their conversations, the lion had told Midas he would offer words of praise to the Warlord about his performances. It was now that he was reaping the rewards of those words.

Stepping into a deep pool of water that had collected, Midas paused and closed his eyes, enjoying how the water felt on his aching paws. It was during this brief moment that the lion questioned if he even wanted to obtain this new rank. As much as he hated to admit it, the paranormal activities in the sky had shaken him up, making him question his very existence. Opening his black eyes, he pushed the fear in his heart away and continued forward.

He couldn’t turn away from the rank now, he didn’t have flowers in his blood.

Word had reached Ushindi of yet another bands return him, this one seemed to reap plenty of rewards, but was also burdened with a wretched story. How much of that story was true would likely never be known, but from what little of it he had heard.. it was something that wouldn't soon leave the memories of those who were involved.

"I want to speak with the Captain." Ushindi spoke the statement out loud with a pointed stare at Jicho. "Do we have any word of where the band might be?" Of course that was a loaded question. Bands wouldn't normally stick closely upon return, especially with doting wives to enjoy and spoil. He smirked slightly at the thought and took a moment to consider he painfully empty den. The emptiness didn't bother him, not as greatly as it should, but it could do with a good tidying.

"Sir?" Jicho called the Warlords attentions back to him with a shrill squawk that earned him an icy stare. "What I was saying was that we haven't heard yet, we simply know that there are some strange rumors about this group. Where others could speak boldly of battles and trophies.. this one was much quieter." Jicho shuddered slightly as he ended his short story.

Ushindi returned to his thoughts, now armed with what Jicho had offered. "As soon as the bands Captain is within our borders you send for me." He demanded and Jicho spread his wings, taking off from his perch. The Warlord didn't leave his dens entrance as he considered what might be out there and able to alarm his viking bands in this manner. A quiet viking band was entirely to uncommon to go unnoticed to begin with.

Midas and the Captain now stood at the boarders of the pride, both looking at each other anxiously as though they had the world on top of their shoulders. Midas was the first to look away and out towards the rest of the viking group. Friends and family that had been part of the group passed by quietly, haunted looks on their faces although all had brought back something worth boasting about. The healers would have their paws busy...

“Midas?” The captain addressed the golden-maned lion, causing his attention to turn back to him. “Are you ready? Your group had been the one to experience the brunt of these… events. We need to warn the rest of the pride before they go on a viking blindly.” There was a bit of leeriness in the captain’s eyes, as though he secretly suspected Midas of being the cause of the grief. The look had been noted in Midas’ mind, but he was far too tired to address it.

“Let’s just go, Captain. I am sure our warlord is eagerly awaiting word.” Midas was almost dismissive, however the lion attempted to keep his cool. This adventure could have gone a lot worse than it had.

Stopping abruptly, the Captain pointed to the skies, garnering Midas’ attention. “Seems he knows we are here. That’s one of his ravens.” Squinting, Midas attempted to make out features of the raven, however was unsuccessful in doing do. Frowning, he looked to his captain again, “It seems so.”

Both lions walked together, heading towards the warlord’s den.

Jicho was diligently alert of the borders newest arrivals and didn't hesitate to circle once more before leaving to return to the Warlord. He had seen the band, two at it's lead and based on what he could make out below him he was alarmed to see a number of injuries. Injuries came with the territory more often than not, but some seemed odd in shape, size, and placement. On his way to the Warlords den he was joined by Silma whom he updated quickly.

"Ushindi." The raven landed at the mouth of the den and addressed the beast within. The Warlord stirred slightly and seemed to have forgotten the instructions he provided his companion as he came into the light looking like a distrubed bear. "That band has arrived home, it's leaders are on their way." He sputtered through the news and was relatively aware of Silma taking a purposeful step back. Dangling before their very eyes were the twin skulls of familiar ravens - a prize for their master and reminder for them.

"Ah, yes." Ushindi began to come to completely and recognized the news for what it was. A grim reminder of what might come to be. He would be faced with those who had experienced some of the oddities that had dampened the moods of most, including beings of higher power. This was the first direct news he had received that impacted the prides members. Ushindi reminded himself that this was still early on.. more could come to fruition.

Thoughts were fleeting as he spied a golden mane come around the bend. He recognized the mane as belonging to Midas, an up and coming lion in the ranks. Though he hadn't received more news than that.

"Midas, welcome home." He greeted the lion formally and even managed a brief smirk.

Body tense, Midas stopped a few feet short of Ushindi’s den and offered a brief nod in respect for the warlord, keeping his eyes constantly on the black and green warlord.

“It is a good day to die”

Oh how true those words were today; although he hadn’t been damaged nearly as badly as some, the weeping wounds on his backside were stinging as the rain continued to pour over him. His body ached something fierce as all his energy had been sapped from being constantly on the move. What was more, he had been mentally exhausted from the fear and worry that plagued his mind.

The captain of the warband offered his greeting as well before speaking directly. “Sir, we have some troubling news to offer you.” Pausing for several moments to allow the warlord time to think, the captain continued. “Our ranks have been harmed by unseen forces. I… I unfortunately hadn’t been able to collect enough information due to my own incapacitation.” The Captain swallowed hard as Midas continued to stand at attention, waiting for a signal to continue the report.

The captain shifted before continuing, “Midas has a better scope of the situation and had bravely helped other members of our squad during the… events.”

Midas gnashed his teeth together as the captain spoke the word events, it sounded like he was practically vomiting the word. Black eyes rolled over to look at the captain before immediately flickering back to Ushindi. “If I may, sir. These events… they were something otherworldly, paranormal even.”

Ushindi let his eyes drag over the company that had approached them. They had entered the pridal lands without so much as cleaning up. Blood dappled the pelts of both of them, along with a number of others. The wounds were still agape and free from salve. The matters were pressing without needing to speak a word, but the strained way the lion greeted him added to it in volumes.

We have some troubling news... Ushindi let a lone brow rise at the statement and although words crept to mind he remained silent and ever listening. When he learned of the harm that had fallen the band he nearly stopped the Captain there. With furrowed brows his emotions lay plainly across his unmasked face, he was unimpressed.

"Continue." He spoke the firm command following the slow draw out of conclusion - or lack there of. Neither had gotten to the point and were speaking of ghosts! Did they wander off into the forest and run smack into the folks haunting the woods? Ushindi was growing impatient by the moment, but was hesitant to simply send them on their way. These events as they were being called were happening more frequently than he first expected. What was going on? Were the Gods sending them a warning? And was he too late to turning around the pride itself? He didn't doubt what he was doing, he simply wondered if the change was coming late.

In silence he waited for Midas to speak.
