Down in to the Abyss the kirin lion had fallen after rescuing his son from this very fate. The two had switched and at the very least Raksha was okay as was Rana. Some where deep in his heart his fatherly soul had activated at just the right time so if now was the time to die he felt okay with that.

With a loud smack to the hard rocky surface below the mist the great kirin lion hit hard. Luckily, the fall had not been high enough to kill him straight away, however, it had been enough to cause the kirin lion to cough up dark bits of blood and break his front right arm and a few ribs. A loud cry of pain echoed upward in a ghostly disembodied way.

Inwardly he was cursing the fact that death had not graced him with open arms but instead pain was to receive ********..." It was unclear now how long he'd have to be down here swaddled in pain and the returning heart ache.

-----------

From the cliffs above sat Na'anu and her ever present jackal Thanos. The two had only seen a little part of Bast'ion falling towards his doom in to the abyss below. She'd not meant to come across the scene but some how the gods will had made it so. Raksha looked like he had his paws full with Rana so she did not make her presence known or offer help. The young kirin lioness was still miffed at the whole ordeal and strongly took Yhe's side. However, Bast'ion was her father and if he was dead then she wanted to know.

She cat walked the cliffs high above Raksha and Rana not interfering or making her self known until she found a way out of view down. It was only then that she rushed down the path in search of an easier way down with out slipping on the slick mud which, unfortunately, was a good ways down the path. She'd been running the entire time which for Na'anu was out of character. Something was clearly up to have enough of her attention to have to run. Thanos was by her side as dedicated as ever with quite the serious expression as the two continued down.

Her father...

Na'ani did not know what to think of him any more. Why had she believed that everything in their little family had been perfect? She had been convinced that her mother and father loved one another deeply. But, with Rana's pregnancy by Bast'ion, that perfect illusion started to disperse. Her mother had been hurt by the betrayal, and it seemed as if no amount of love she had felt for Bast'ion would be enough to mend the wound that had been dealt. Na'ani could not understand why her father had done it - had their family not been enough for him?

Had they somehow been a disappointment to him all along?

"Hey," her jackal companion, Nebu, spoke up, breaking the train of Na'ani's thoughts before she became too lost within herself.

"I am just fine," she insisted, even if it was a lie. Her life had been a lie, it seemed. Na'ani had realized just how naive she had been all this time.

Walking by herself, she noticed Rana and Raksha pass by, and had stopped near them enough to figure out that Bast'ion had fallen off the cliff edge. Her concern for Rana was nonexistent, the hybrid was as guilty as her own father. But... Bast'ion was her father, and she found herself running towards the spot where he had fallen.

"Na'anu!" she spotted her twin making her way down the cliff side, and took off after her. Frantically, she hurried down the the same path her sister had taken, hoping to catch up to her. Nebu was left trailing behind her, barking a warning to her master that the cliffs were dangerous. Na'ani paid little heed to the warning, and used the slick slope to her advantage, sliding to increase her speed and make her way towards her twin quicker.

Na'anu had been so hyper focused on her goal she had not noticed her twin fast approaching until her name had been called out. The darker twin looked over her shoulder to greet her twin with a knowing look albeit not a joyous one. Their father had fallen and for all the two knew he was dead.

"We'll need to keep an eye out for him," She called over to her twin. Na'anu could only assume this was what Na'ani was braving this ledge for.

The path down was more dangerous with all the rain still pouring over head making the trail that much more slippery even for one that had grown up in the stormborn. Na'anu was graceful in her steps and equally as careful as she continued along while Thanos weaved between her paws keeping a very careful and calculated rhythm so he'd not trip up his mistress.

Below there was a shade of white and gold that stood out from the murky brown. There was no mistaking that this blob of color among the murk was the twins father and there were hints of red. Na'anu felt her hear stop some at the very thought this might be it. Their father might be done for and they'd never see him alive again. Something in the back of her mind excited her about that.

----

Bast'ion knew it would be a matter of time before some one came for him but he didn't know how long and he expected his son Raksha to be the someone. He was the only one who knew exactly where he had fallen, or , so he thought. He'd not turned and seen his daughters approaching just yet.

"Right," Na'ani agreed as she finally reached her darker twin. In recent months, Na'ani had finally started to find her own inner strength, though she was still leagues from being the most confident and secure lioness in the pride. In time, she'd turn out to be a reflection of her mother. Whether that was a good thing to be in a pride like the Myrsky Syntynyt was still yet to be determined.

"Do you think... he could have survived?" she asked softly. Her relationship with her father had grown strained from the news of Rana's pregnancy. Na'ani hadn't taken to the information well, and had spent more time away from the family den than within it. The tension was almost palpable when she was there, and it was easier to escape the drama than endure it. They were selfish actions of a teenage daughter that had been raised to be a little bit selfish.

Her pace slowed to match her sister's when she realized that the quicker she ran, the more danger she encouraged. If their father was... gone, running would do nothing to change his fate. They reached the base of the cliff, and she saw him, though she could not discern what kind of condition he was in. Her throat clenched, and she anxiously cast her gaze towards Na'anu. "Is he...?" She couldn't bring herself to check, just in case he was gone. It would be a miserable way to go, the Stormlords would not be pleased by such a death.

There was a cough from the white gold shape as if to answer both the girls question if Bast'ion was dead or not. Red black goo spewed from his maw making it clear that even if Bast'ion was alive he wasn't doing great right now.

"I'm alive." His voice was weak as the wind had been knocked out of him in the most traumatic way possible. He still was feeling the force of his fall and also feeling dumb for not having come up with a better plan that would have had less of a cost on his health. There was no time to think at that moment and only time to react and given if he had a second chance things would have played out the same.

For now he'd lay where he was and wait for the twins to figure something out.

-----

"We just got our answer," Na'anu frowned looking at the white shape in the murky mud. The darker twin padded over so she could get a better view of Bast'ions front but regretted doing so the moment she did.

Bone was sticking out of one of his paws and, even for someone as morose as Na'anu , the image was a lot. She quickly retreated to the safety of her twins side with a look of horror.

"You're not going to want to go look Na'ani.. " Was all she was going to say about that as to not upset her twin too much. However, it was going to be hard for Na'ani to not look as the two still needed to help their father. Na'anu was mad at him but she wouldn't abandon him to die down here. Bast'ion deserved a better death than to die like this.

"We're going to have to find a way to get him to some help... But..." She looked at her twin, "Do you think we'll be able to lift him..?"

Relief flooded through her body when she heard her father's voice. It was weak, but it was still there reminding her that even after his betrayal that she still loved him. The last thing Na'ani wanted was for her father to die a horrible death like this, bleeding out on the rocks alone.

As Na'anu moved forward to check on Bast'ion, Na'ani lingered back. From the distance between them, she could already tell that her father was badly wounded. It would be a monumental task for two young lionesses to carry a full grown male back up the steep slope of the cliff's side. She had no reason to believe that she could do it, that she could bear seeing her father in a terrible condition enough to carry him back to safety.

"It is bad, isn't it?" she whispered softly to Na'anu when her twin returned to her side, hoping it was quiet enough for her father not to hear. He likely knew what poor condition he was in, but he certainly did not need the reminder of it. "I don't know, it'll be a struggle, and what happens if we drop him and hurt him more? What happens if we leave him here to find help?" Every second likely mattered, but there was no clear path forward for the twins to take.
