The Obstacle Course!

Scorpa and Flydra have prepared one doozy of an obstacle course to test their cadets... and spiced it up even more for their powered friend! Quella and Scorpa will run the course at the same time, competing for the best time. After each section of the course has been completed, we'll take turns creating the next section of obstacles until we've completed 4 total sections. Then we'll see who got the best time!

To attempt a section of the course, roll 2d6 and add em up, and add any plusses or minuses you might have gotten.

On a total of 2-6, that attempt is a Failure: add 2 time to the attempt.

Failure

Choose from this list for the results of your attempt:

*Better luck next time! You get a +1 to your next roll against this obstacle
*You damage the course in some way, giving your opponent -1 to their next roll
*You fail, but you do so quickly. Add only 1 time instead of 2.

On a total of 7-9, that attempt is a Mixed Success: add 1 time to the attempt.

Mixed Success

Choose from this list on your next attempt:

*You finish the obstacle, but awkwardly. take -1 to your next roll.
*Your opponent watches how you tackle the obstacle carefully. They get +1 to their next roll.
*You succeed, but it takes you a while. Add 1 time to the attempt.

On a total of 10+, you Succeed! Add 1 time to the attempt.

Success

Choose from this list on your next attempt:

*You finish the course with a good head of steam. Take +1 to your next roll.
*If your opponent is behind you, you upset the course. They take -1 to their next attempt on that section of the course.
*You succeed flawlessly! Remove one time from your attempt!

Contestants may use 1 charge of an attack power or artifact to get +1 to any die roll!

Section 1: The Long Jumps

The first obstacle is a series of raised platforms suspended over a pit of muddy water. Each platform rotates slowly, and there are several handholds on the edges. Each contested will have to make several incredibly long jumps with pinpoint accuracy, or start all the way at the beginning. Then, at the end of the obstacle, there is a wall covered in holes and pegs at the bottom. Each contestant will have to grab the pegs and climb the wall with only their arms, placing the pegs carefully to get the the end of the obstacle. Plot twist: some of the holes in the wall have been greased, making split-second decisions important for the end of the challenge.

Quella stuck out her tongue as she looked over the pile of an obstacle course. She'd known for a little while that Flydra had wanted to test her abilities, now that she was finally starting to grow into them, but she hadn't expected quite how... elaborate the doctor had been planning to make the test. Her eyes had grown like dinner plates when she first saw the course, and even now she was desperately trying to make heads or tails of all the nonsense strung around the room.

Trying to buy time, the hunter did some quick stretches, looking over at her commander as she did. Had Scorpa ever done these courses? She didn't look particularly nervous, at least not that Quella could tell, and the blueblood liked to think she had a keen nose for fear. As they approached the starting line, Quella grinned. Might as well approach it with a game face.

She waved Scorpa ahead with a mischevious smile. "Hey, you know what they say, sir. Ladies first!" Hopefully the hunter could watch Scorpa complete this section and figure out where in the hell she was going.
