Surprising, how a hangout can go from disaster to delightful in the span of a couple hours.

After Mahmud's embarrassing attempt to smother Deimos, and their heart to heart, both boys had gone back to doing activities together. For Mahmud, that had always been easy. Easygoing, he was happy doing whatever the other person wanted to do. If Deimos wanted to go for a hike out in the woods, that was fine by him. If he wanted to stay at home, that was fine too. Just as long as they were close together, that's all that really mattered.

So as they had a lull period in their activities, Mahmud nestled into the observatory's piles of pillows to look in his notebook. There were far more shameful bits in this one than he remembered, in just how sappy he'd been with his two... well... Poe was still his friend. Static it was unsure. Anyways, sappy with how he'd been with his exs' and his poetry. Euch.

"Deimos, you got a writing implement?" he called out. No matter how cringeworthy some of this stuff was, he wouldn't dare get rid of them. No, he had to write something even better inside. That way he could make up for the sins of his past.

Seriously, why did he try to rhyme "plunge" with "sponge"? Gross.

Things chilled out- that was good. They were able to actually hang out as originally planned and the whole sort of meltdown earlier didn't ruin the night. Perfect. It was a sign to him at least that this friendship was one worth really investing time in. If you could bounce back from a meltdown like that, you could probably bounce back from anything.

Probably.

He'd been zoning out just watching the sky overhead when Mahmud asked for something to write with. "Huh? Oh." He sat up, yawning, and then crawled over to one of the easels. "Got plenty - permanent or erasable?" He picked up one of his pencil cases, sitting back on his legs as he twisted to look at Mahmud. "What're you doin', anyway?"

"Mmm? Oh." Mahmud's smile was bright, and he pat the pillows next to him. The pillows he had once tried to smother Deimos with... but... he was trying to move past that. Had to move past that. Could move past that? Maybe. "I haven't written rhymes in this journal in a while, I wanted to put some fresh ones out there."

Plucking the pencil out of Deimos' notepad, he looked absolutely pleased. "Hold on..." He'd made it this far but, then realized he had nothing to write about really... "Give me something, anything, off the top of your dome."

Lets see where Deimos' brain could take them!

Dei flopped down onto the pillows, not even thinking much of the previous incident in which one of them had very nearly been used to suffocate him. That was a thing of the past, after all. "Rhymes huh? I ain't any good at those." Rhymes took too much thinking about words to work well, and well... Deimos was a straight to the point sort of person. He preferred to only use the words that were necessary to convey a point.

He could appreciate a good rhyme, though. And Mahmud looked totally pleased to have something to write with. He shifted to lay on his side, propping his head up as a hand as he stretched his arm back in a sort of triangle pose. "Huh? Oh uhhh...." He hadn't been expecting to be asked for a subject. "Moons?" It was the last thing he'd been staring at - totally uncreative, but Mahmud had asked for anything off the top of his dome........
