Physical Description: Someone animated a scarecrow and let him walk about Pern! He's around 6'3" and tends to slouch ever so casually as he walks, all legs and arms and probably just a bit too lean. His bright, almost white hair sticks out at odd angles and refuses to be combed down. There's a roguish, disheveled look about him that law abiding citizens ought to distrust on sight. His face seems hollowed out, making his hazel eyes look like bright points at the bottom of holes.
Personality: Oz is first and foremost a showman. He delights in grabbing attention and giving people a good time while suckering them of their hard earned marks, or snacks, or flit eggs. Anything he can get his hands on to sell or profit by. Never anything large, mind you, just little things the more fortunate couldn't possibly miss. Sometimes he even takes things just because he can, to the dismay of his twin, and then he'll come up with a lie on the spot as to why! Oz doesn't know why he does it, other than it's just some sort of knee jerk instinct to protect himself and his sister. Or maybe he just talks too much.
(He was born and bred into stories, and he must collect them all. Maybe one day he can take one for his own.)
He might be low born, but that won't stop him from acting like he's the lord holder's oldest son. In the best way, Oz assures, like being caring of the general populace around him, if not just a teensy bit lazy when it comes to working with them. It's not cutting corners, it's being efficient with his energy. And it's hard to stay angry at him with that charming smile and a yarn about this old fishwives' tale he heard when he was at Tillek, or some other distraction. He might not do the best work, but he'll definitely keep it entertaining throughout.
Risks are his vice. Sometimes it's just a simple bet on what's gonna hatch, sometimes it's as serious as betting on himself in a pit fight. Win or lose, Oz likes the thrill of it. If it's a stupid idea, a far cry from sanity, you can bet he's probably going to try it anyway. His curiosity can't help it, and he'll spin you a good enough reason as to why you should join in and support his cause! Problem is, he can't seem to commit to a project long enough to encounter any real takers. Oz's head is full of so many ambitions, thought experiments, and ideas, how could he stay to just one? It makes him scatterbrained, but surely you'd forgive him if he passed you that bubblypie he snatched from the kitchen.
In short, he's a car salesman in a shabby suit that looks just honest enough to believe what he's saying. Or a buddy you can take drinking and then call his bullshit when he gets drunk and loud and tries to sell you the story of the time he found a riderless dragon out in the wild.

History:
Iden is far from boring if you knew the right places, but Oz wanted more than just sand and spice and trade. He knew there was more life beyond the desert, more opportunities to take and make and sell wares--for while the young man had sticky fingers, he also liked to tinker and make small toys with scraps. He received his father's blessing to go out into the world, but only if his sister came with him, and only if he continued to peddle the same wares the family had for several generations. He grudgingly agreed, if only to become independent of his parents at all, and for a handful of turns was watched over and regulated by his twin Glinda, who sought to stamp out his less desirable qualities and make him worthy of some lucky woman (who might help their business while she was at it).
In spite of her meddling, they managed to make a moderate profit as they traveled, most through their general wares, some from attempts Oz made to make new and interesting products, and the little bit left from family friends who helped them along the way. Glinda accused him of being a tunnelsnake oil salesman on more than one occasion, but he hadn't been lying when he said the herbal remedy he sold that old lady would help ease her aches! The wrinkles would just naturally disappear from her frowning less from pain.
When a rider happened to Search Glinda, Oz thought it was his lucky break. Unfortunately, two seconds later he got Searched as well. Neither could stay stationed permanently: their father still needed them to keep up the trade in other holds for just a while longer, though Oz would happily stop by High Reaches from time to time. Oz could have simply said no, but dragons intrigued him. And if he got one, why, the whole of Pern would be at his fingertips! Oh, and fighting Thread and checking on his most dearest sister and all that, of course.
