Quote:
As Spring rolls into Summer in Tendaji it appears that something is not as it should be. In fact, strange and unpredictable weather is happening all across the world. Strong storms, bizarre heat waves, unheard of snow storms, floods, and other similar events are happening in all of the countries. Some are superstitious, seeing it as a warning of great evil, others blame the Dretch, some shrug it off as a freaky incident, and others ignore that it's even such an oddity.

However, one thing is certain - all the lands are dealing with these weird weather outbreaks in their own way. How are you handling matters? Do you try to help others, are you too focused on yourself, or do you want to try and find answers for the causes behind these recent events? Or did you get caught out in the disaster yourself and these are your memories of how you had to fight against the odds to get to safety?

Jianyu pressed his hand into the tree and wipped the droplets of sweat that had formed across his forehead with the back of his hand. He readjusted his glasses, eyes narrowing as he tried to catch his breath for a moment before continuing his trek.

The mountain he was currently going up was steep and require a lot of effort, still every day Jianyu climbed and he was getting better at it. He wanted to be in physical shape before he left his beloved home and this mountain offered a great reward once at the top. The view was magnificent. Truly a breath taking scenery of Yael and Jianyu wanted to sear the memory into his mind so that he would always carry a piece of himself even when he was not in Yael. The gods could not be angry with him if he took a part of his home would they? It was kind of like bringing a part of them with him.

He had no plans on losing his glowing eyes either to Tendaji.

Deciding to take a break, Jianyu found a part of the slope that would allow him to rest for a bit. He wondered briefly if the priests and priestesses knew why there was a drought currently plaguing Yael. The gods had to be angry at something. Things like this just didn't happen for no reason. So why hadn't the priests said anything? Or done anything for that matter to appease the gods? Jianyu as annoyed. It annoyed him to know they were possibly not doing anything, perhaps the gods were angry at the priests and such for not doing what they were supposed to. Jianyu wouldn't blame them in that case and he would suffer if this is what the gods wanted from them.

When Jianyu finally made it to the top of the mountain he was took a deep breath and took in all of the landscape before him. The trees that bumped and floated across the landscape, hiding the dangers of the Elaria beneath them. He also saw the Yaeli settlements which dotted and opened up within the trees. Beyond all this was the water of the ocean and then even further was The mainland as well as Belrea. A small part of Jianyu thrilled at the idea of documenting everything that laid beyond the borders of Yael.

Soon.

But for now, Jianyu had caught his breath and was heading back down to his own settlement to get a few chores done and probably stop by and speak to his father for a bit. It wasn't the highlight of his day but he still liked to keep the lines of communication open with the man. He was also curious what he might think of the ongoing droughts of the area. Knowing his father it would have something to do with the gods and Jianyu leaned to agree with him. The gods controlled everything and nothing was done without their expressed knowledge and approval.

Those who thought otherwise were foolish.

"I was wondering when you would turn up boy. Have you been praying?" His father said to him when he caught sight of Jianyu.

"Of course, father." This was his usual opening banter and Jianyu ignored the scrutinizing look he received from his father. Nothing new here.

"I was stopping by to see how you were doing during the drought and if you needed anything."

"Only thing we need more of in this life is prayer to the gods. They must be quit angry with us to have brought this drought upon us."

Jianyu slide into the chair opposite his father and rested his hands on the table.

"Indeed they must be, I was thinking of going into town to see how the other settlements were doing. Specifically, if perhaps there was a priest who was willing to speak to me about the droughts."

"Now why would the priests want to waste time speaking with you when they've got a job to do boy?" His father raised his voice slightly. "They've got much more important things to worry about right now. All you can do is pray from home and hope to please the gods enough that they will end the drought."

There was no way to argue out of that one with his father, Jianyu was already doing probably more praying and such to the gods than most people. e left his father soon after that, he'd made sure the man was alive but that was about all Jianyu could endure of the man. He'd go back home now and pray some more to the gods so that the drought ended and that his father's mood passed.
