✎Personality: Amaya is cold, rude to those who she is wary of. She is quick to fight back at someone, but she fights back verbally as she believes a lady shouldn't resort to violence so easily. Despite that, she is a trickster at heart, and giving advice is her forte. When she was still alive, she was elegant, witty, and quick-minded. She had a sharp tongue and a commanding aura, but she got along well with her schoolmates.

Amaya, at a young age, was orphaned after a devastating earthquake killed both her parents on her birthday. Her relatives, believing her to be wrapped in an evil omen, abandoned her and moved far away. It was her grandparents who decided to adopt her and take her in that day.
She grew up as a model student and child, taking good care of her grandparents, getting the highest grades in school, and excelling in extra-curricular activities. She was elected as the president of the student council and was one of the main vocalists in their school choir. She even took up duties as a shrine priestess, tending to the shrine next to her grandparents' home. Throughout the school and the small village, her name was whispered in praise.
Her grandparents died peacefully, as she had expected. Everyone wished her good luck and gave her their condolences. Amaya only cried once. Her grandmother would have scolded her, and her grandfather would have told her to be strong. So she was strong for them, and for herself. She carried on her duties as the school president and as a shrine priestess with fervor.
On her graduation, she caught the eye of a professional photographer. Every day she would return to their village, trying and failing to woo the girl. She would rather focus on her duties as a priestess and sustain herself without anyone's help. The photographer grew possessive, wanting her all to herself. And on the day of her 20th birthday, she struck, breaking into Amaya's home while she was away and making herself at home.
That night, Amaya had a bad feeling. She was reluctant to go home, but she had to get in a change of clothes before attending a birthday party her old classmates had orchestrated for her. So she went home, accompanied by one of her friends. Her gut feeling worsened when she found the door unlocked. Fearing for her friend's safety, she went in alone.
Inside, she was greeted by candles everywhere, lighting up her living room. The atmosphere felt eerie, and she knew someone was home. Suddenly, the photographer emerged, holding a messily-made cake, the blood red icing dripping off the cake, onto the photographer's hands, and onto the floor. She grinned, the sight of Amaya bringing her joy.
'My, I didn't think you'd come home so early! Ah, you look as stunning as ever in your priestess clothes. I heard from your classmate that you liked red, so I baked a cake for you!'
Amaya couldn't speak, not even a sound. She was scared, frozen in place. The candle flames flickered, the shadow dancing on the photographer's eerie smile. When she remained silent, the photographer's gaze darkened and her smile faded. She dropped the cake, the plate shattering loudly as she advanced toward the frozen girl.
'Do you not like the cake? Darling, tell me. Speak to me. SAY SOMETHING.' With each step, her voice grew louder. Her hand reached behind her, and the telltale glare of something shiny woke Amaya up. She stepped backward, once, twice.
But it was too late.
Her scream ripped through the house as the photographer pulled her back by the wrist, and the last thing she felt was a sharp object plunging into her neck.
It wasn't hard for her to decipher the fact that she died. But it confused her as to why her soul still resided on the living plane.
It was on that fateful afternoon that a contract between her and an orphaned girl was formed. She wasn't sure what drew her to the girl, what made her resonate with the girl's soul. But somehow, she saw a bit of herself in the girl, and she swore to herself that she'll protect her.
