Returning outside of the hive after the first wave of seances, Flydra had felt pleased how peacefully the time with Erilyn had gone. The fiery torching of the room had startled everyone but no one had sustained life threatening burns. All that had been lost were the original letters and the mysterious music box. It was fortunate that she had taken notes on the contents of the letters.

The lawn ring was much noisier and frantic than she had expected. The tealblood shot the other sirens a look and they silently agreed to split up and investigate what the problem was. Flydra gasped after wading through people to find Scorpa's idol and mentor, bleeding heavily from the face. Where there had once been a pair of determined stoic eyes now was a slashed mess of flesh and blood. Her hands went to her med kit immediately, pulling a bottle of a powerful disinfectant out as well as a fistful of gauze.

"Lieutenant Cincil, let me assist you. Your injuries are too severe to handle another seance without treatment." Trolls were sturdy and built for violence and aggression which meant Sarcel would not die from this injury. Blood loss was unlikely to be a problem either if they worked fast. But Flydra did not think the officer would be able to withstand another round of stabbing should she visit another violent spirit. What had happened in Schrad's room?

A young troll in the area caught her attention and she called out to him. It was hazy but she could swear he had been around the lawn ring before doing serious work. Maybe he could make for a good temporary nurse.

"You there- greenblood, help me unpack this kit while I clean her wound. We must work fast. Look for the packages labeled kaolin clay." She did not know who Floren was but Flydra would take any help she could get. Children were too young to help much in a battle but they often made decent helpers outside of it. The contributions of children in a desperate time of need could make a big difference on the outcome and she hoped the greenblood would be willing to listen.

Aside from the fire at the end the seance had been... relatively uneventful. He supposed they mused have lucked out if Glamis' warnings were to be taken seriously. As he shuffled out of the hive with the rest of the group, he slowed as the lawnring came into view. Trolls were moving about in quick motions, some supporting others as they limped their way to less hectic ground. What had happened? He found himself drawn in to the relative chaos, trailing after some of the older trolls from the seance he'd been in - curiosity got the better of him.

There was so much blood- a real rainbow of color. A tealblood called out to him- what was her name? He perked and moved closer immediately. "Yes ma'am." Normally he might give his name, but this was a bit of an emergency in the making. The little experience he had with treating actual trolls would probably not do much good here, but he could definitely find things. Floren dug around inside the kit, searching for the packages in question. While he did so, he quickly set things aside in an organized fashion until he came upon them. He held them up and over toward Flydra. "Here, the kaolin clay. What else do you need?"

Sarcel didn't really have much of an idea of what was happening around her. Her head was pounding, her eye throbbing. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she knew she probably looked like an absolute mess, but all that really mattered was that everyone had made it out of the room alive. Now she was outside (judging by the cool air on her skin), but where exactly? The why? Who was around her? That was all starting to get increasingly muddy.

She had forced herself into consciousness though, was making herself bathe in her own pain. Sarcel was trying to etch this moment into her memory. Most of her drive had come from her own failures and this night wasn't going to be an exception.

"Dromen...?" Her tongue felt invasive and foreign in her mouth, her throat dry and her words thick and raspy as a result. She looked up at the tealblood so her eye could focus on the troll, the full extent of her injuries starting to show. While the most gruesome and detrimental was definitely the gouge on her face, other parts of her body had not escaped unscathed; she was covered in slashes from wrestling with the knife, and her hands were nicked all over from where her fingers had slipped. She was a bloody mess.

Still, she sat up, refusing to let herself fall down and pass out again.

"Flydra--" It was hard to formulate any real response with her head pounding the way it was, "Is it--it's not that... bad. It's not that bad. I'll be fine." Physically anyway, she would heal. Perhaps she wouldn't get her sight back, but she would live and her wounds would close up into scars. Mentally.... mentally she wasn't sure. She had lost her cool and her temper and endangered the lives of everyone around her. It didn't make for a good leader, didn't make for a good troll who wanted to rise through the ranks, and that knowledge stung. Her self discipline had failed her. "Who...?" She belated noticed Floren's presence, her body awkwardly turning to look at him as the rest of her words ghosted from her lips.

Flydra nodded quietly in response to as Sarcel spoke. It was just like the blueblood to insist that she had everything under control. In a way, Flydra supposed the other lieutenant did. She knew that the doctor would keep her alive and she just had to endure the treatment. Floren arranged the supplies in a well organized spread and held up the clay. He was methodical, that was good. Whoever he was, it was a child to investigate later. Alternia's military always needed more doctors.

"Very good. I'm going to focus on the optical injury. Can you disinfect the wounds on her body and apply the clay? It should quicken the clotting." Flydra wished she could cart Sarcel back to her clinic, just a short ride away towards the beaches of Civisect. But there wasn't time to fuss over the tools she didn't have. Pulling a strong painkiller from the line up Floren had created, she injected it into the adult to ease some of the pain for what was coming next.

"I'm sorry... there's no way to keep it." She pressed her hand apologetically to the lieutenant's cheek in an effort to comfort her. "But you will be fine. This will not ruin you." The eye would be too messy and too difficult to save. But trolls had adjusted to life with one eyeball before. And Sarcel had overcome every obstacle life had thrown at her so far.

It would still be traumatic to lose it though and so Flydra decided to hook Sarcel up to a sedative to keep her calm.

"You were very brave, I see that the children with you escaped unharmed." Flydra began emergency surgery to remove the remaining tissue. It likely would have been better to put up some kind of screen to block the procedure from onlookers interfering or watching but there simply wasn't time.

"Talk to her as well, little one. Distractions will help her." She murmured to Floren, grateful to have another pair of hands to work and another mouth to keep Sarcel focused.

Flydra Dromen... he tucked her away in his mind to remember later. "Yes, I can do that." He nodded quickly. To get to them- well... He was used to having to shave animals to treat some of their wounds, he figured tearing more holes into clothing was probably about the same. She didn't seem to be struggling very much- he picked up a pair of scissors and began to widen some of the holes around the wounds that were covered. Work space cleared, he set to work disinfecting the wounds, occasionally glancing up to see what Flydra was doing.

Gruesome... the loss of an eye was less than ideal. He looked around briefly- others were wounded but not quite so grievously. "Floren." He offered up, both to Sarcel's question and for Flydra to have something to call him. He talked to the animals that he helped but it was mindless chatter- talking to trolls was... different. "These don't look very bad, I'm sure they will heal in no time." He patted her arm, then began to apply the clay. "The others who were in the seance and were harmed... they don't appear to be as injured. You defended them well." It was similar to what Flydra had already mentioned but he figured it would at least help a little to hear it.

Sarcel listened to the praise. You defended them well, I see the children with you escaped unharmed. She sucked in a breath. The painkillers made her world shift again, the sensations she was experiencing completely unpleasant, but at least not totally unbearable. She didn't get to lieutenant by being a kiss a**, she didn't get to lieutenant by being a kiss a**...

"Vidari's legs--" She found it difficult to speak while Flydra worked on her face, "His back... They were slashed badly. Charge and Mentha were stabbed... Aconan..." She wanted to look around desperately, but she found herself unable to move all that well. The sedative made her feel too heavy.

"I should have done better." She finally said. The eye was no issue--she would learn to adapt and overcome in, but the injuries of her teammates was unacceptable. She carefully watched Floren through the hazy vision of her preserved eye, "How can you be sure they'll heal quickly, child?" Her tone was not accusatory as she vetted him, "Or do you have an interest in medicine yourself?"
