what started as a simple trip to Four Fronds becomes much more...complicated
at the Civisect train station

It was early in the night as Zeylla woke and slowly began to move about Bellen's hive. The older troll was still in her recupracoon, and Zeylla tried hard to make minimal noise as she gathered her things into a small knapsack and readied herself to slip outside. Her exit was as quiet as her preparations, the door to her friends hive clicking softly shut behind her.

In the early dusk of the night, there were few trolls out yet which was just as Zeylla liked it. It made it much easier to travel through the city when she was not pushing her way through throngs of other citydwellers. The effort of dealing with a multitude of bodies rushing around her was exhausting, both mentally and physically. Much better to get up early and get a head start on the crowds, more so because Zeylla would be having an extraneous night as it was.

Tonight she would be taking her weekly trip to check on her lusus, as her waning mental health made it a necessity for Zeylla to come care of her. Yet visiting her lusus, since deciding to stay in the city with Bellen, was a tough task. Her time with Leechmom was mostly spent hunting for her and then trying to ignore the spiteful, venomous(and painful) words her caretaker spat at her as she cleaned up the hive and prepared her meal. Her long time sanctuary was now a bleak maze of misery.

So she enjoyed the serenity of the empty streets and the empty shuttles as she made her way to the train station, taking a more scenic route through some streets littered with small shops and foodplaces with kitchy window displays. Only a month or two ago, she had barely known these streets, but now she could move at a brisk pace, confident enough to spend more time looking about the sleepy city instead of checking and double checking street signs. Her feet soon guided her to the steps leading up to the Civisect train station. A large, imposing building with sleek stone floors and walls, the sounds of trains moving onto tracks and being prepped for the nights work already breaking through the quiet dusk air. Zeylla walked through the arching doors, replacing the sounds of the trains for her footsteps, echoed on the dark stone walls- a soft mimicry of the usual bustle of the station in the later hours of the night.

Only a couple other trolls stood about the station, looking tired and despondent as they waited for their trains to show up. Some glanced at the timepieces on their wrists, others stared up at the large clocks hanging above the ticket station. None of them glanced her way as Zeylla shifted her pack and walked towards the ticket booth.

The same miserable, sour-faced greenblood that always worked the ticketbooth when she came to take the train sold her a ticket without a single word, which worked for Zeylla. The less she had to speak with other trolls this early in the night, the better, and it was nice to be remembered. Made the whole transaction much more efficient when you didn't have to go through the whole script.

After getting her ticket, Zeylla made her way through the lobby and out the second set of doors that led to the tracks and the outdoor benches. She preferred the fresh air in the morning, and there were even fewer trolls outside. While usually watching and judging other trolls was a usual hobby for the greyblood, she preferred to start her nights off with some alone time.

She parked herself on a bench and sank back into its stiff embrace, arms hanging over the back and her knapsack sitting beside her. Her eyes slowly closed, and her body language showed how relaxed she felt. But as Zeylla sat there, she began to feel a twisting in her gut, an itch on the back of her neck. It was the feeling that one would get when being stared at. Zeylla slowly opened on eye, head rolling to the side to see where the prying eyes might be coming from(or if it was just in her head).

And to her left, a short distance away, stood a tealblood. Zeylla stared at her idly, and wondered what the other troll was looking at. It was slightly uncomfortable the way she was staring. She frowned, brows furrowing as the other troll continued to stare. Zeylla was beginning to have a bad feeling, and slowly, casually, stood up, slipped her sack over her shoulders and moved at a brisk pace away from the other troll. She didn't run, but it was obvious she planned to slip away. No running though, she had to take it calm. Running would only cause more problems, make her look more suspicious. Zeylla could feel that the other troll was targetting her with her eyes, watching her as she slowly made her retreat towards the far end of the train yard.

There was something felt weird about the way the tealblood stared at her, something that set alarms off in her thinkpan. It was the same kind of look she had seen in that yellowblooded trolls eyes when she happened upon Zeylla in the fronds. It was the sharp stare of a predator, and she did not like being the helpless prey.

The trip to NHC was always one she looked forward to. While her dearest Lorata lived here in the beautiful city of Civisect with her, someone very important roamed the busy streets of NHC. Scorpa Devile, the world's strongest yellowblood (in Flydra's opinion) and the most glamorous and amazing moirail to be found. Nothing could stop her from her usual journey of dozing off on the train en route to meet with her darling.

Well, almost nothing.

"How peculiar. I've seen those before..." She whispered to herself as she caught sight of an unusual pair of horns passing through. The station was quiet and almost empty at this time of day which meant the few trolls she encountered were noticeable. A head of curly poofy hair. A costume devoid of color. Flydra's pulse rocketed up. This was the one from the poster. Tamiya would be so pleased if she could...

She followed a few feet behind on foot, eyes locked on her prey. They were headed towards the section of the train yard where the damaged cars were retired to be scrapped for parts before being hauled away for disposal. There wouldn't be anyone to call for help or any departing train to catch. This was exactly where she wanted the pathetic wretch to go.

"Lost lamb, what are you looking for?" Flydra called out to the other girl once they were truly alone in the cold empty graveyard. It was dark in here with no light other than the stars above them and the soft glow that came from Flydra's prosthetic, eerily lighting her face from below.

As the soft lights of the train station gave way to the dim darkness of the workyard, full of rusted, dented and retired trains, Zeylla felt the hairs on her neck rise. The place would be useful for disappearing into, but it also was not the most calming of spots. Walking into a yard of scrap and hollowed shells while being followed did nothing to reassure Zeylla. If anything it made the feeling of being followed(she was most definitely being followed) much worse. A looming, foreboding feeling.

When the tealblood called out, Zeylla stopped, turning and noting that there was still a touch of distance between them, though her stalker was quick to close that distance. Zeylla stared deeply into those intent eyes and knew that the likelihood of talking her way out of this was slim, very very slim.

"I'm looking for a way to be rid of certain pests," she remarked snidely, taking slow steps back as the tealblood stepped forward. Her eyes stayed trained on the other troll, who seemed more demonic in the light of the stars and the glow of her own prosthetic limb, "It would seem I am unintentionally skilled in gaining unwanted attention from annoying nosey trolls," her back bumped up against a rusted metal wall, the side of a wrecked train, its doors forced open, offered deep dark shadows and silence(and perhaps escape).

She lifted a foot backwards, landing it on the raised platform, and finished, "I'm not fond of the attention honestly, so if its all the same to you, I will be leaving and you can go find someone else to harrass so early in the night," she lifted herself into the dark of the trains innards, but paused for a moment instead of disappearing completely. She had the upper hand here, having stepped into the wreckage, and stupidly she wanted to hear what the tealblood had to say.
