      [+] Captain Kursha Vidari

The doctors and nurses had long since left the block to allow the patients rest. Kursha awoke with a start, feeling sore, but otherwise refreshed and alert. He jolted upright, causing the slime in his recuperacoon to slosh around. His eyes searched the room. He was fenced into a small space, enclosed by a curtain for privacy, within a larger room. Beside him, a machine that monitored his vitals beeped periodically. Beyond, he heard the muffled sound of voices.

His mind scrambled to connect his memories. The flagship, swarms of undead, Sarcel's hand on his shoulder before she disappeared from sight... Further, think further. He remembered dragging the bodies of his companions back out of the belly of the ship and squeezing them all into the shuttle. Shouting for medical assistance in a room crowded with trolls. Pacing back and forth in the tiny space, insisting they were not working fast enough, arguing with a nurse... Then the sight of a syringe. After that, only darkness. Either someone had knocked him out, or he had passed out all on his own. The med bay then.

Climbing out of the recuperacoon, Kursha towelled himself down and grabbed the provisional hospital gown from the bedside table. He took a moment to eye it with distaste. His tongue clicked against his teeth. At last, he pulled it over his head, attempting to smooth it down around him. No matter how he tried, it did not look flattering. With a huff, and as dressed as he could be, he padded towards the seam in the curtains and threw them open.

Outside the room, two greenblood wandered the hall lost. They'd received permission to check out and were on their way to find the others, only with all of the chaos it was hard to tell which rooms held which trolls. He was sure they had finally found a wing of greenbloods and all that was left now was to wait for a nurse to help them. He grew impatient, however, and decided to try peeking inside one while the nurses ran around too busy to pay them much heed.

"Maybe he's in here." Nucleo muttered to Amonee, pulling him towards the door as a co-conspirator. The barista wondered if their friends would be booked together because of their relationship status or if they'd been kept apart. He hoped not, he didn't want to imagine how she'd feel waking up alone. The greenblood was so distracted by this thought that he didn't notice the sound of bare footsteps approaching from the other side of the curtain. They suddenly thrust open and Nucleo found himself face to face with the man he wished to see least.

"A-ah, our apologies. We appear to have entered the wrong room." Nucleo winced, bowing his head slightly. While his stomach tensed, he kept his voice low and apologetic. He didn't know what condition Kursha was in, though he seemed well enough to stand, and didn't want to startle him by panicking like how he would have in the past.

"I hope you make a quick recovery, sorry about this-" He stepped backwards, pulling Amonee with him again.

The curtains fluttered open and Amonee at last found himself in a soap opera drama like he'd always wanted. Except this was not how he'd hoped it would go. Nucleo pulled backwards but the jadeblood stood firmly in place, keeping Nucleo from ducking back out the door. They were at last face to face with Kursha Vidari, the most dangerous man he could think of. And coincidentally also-

"You're Elidae's moirail! Captain Vidari." He stated plainly but carefully. Kursha was still wearing a hospital gown which meant he probably should not be heading out the door, which appeared to be what he was trying to do. He remembered their meeting vaguely long ago when he'd been trying to feel out what Kursha meant to Elidae and vice versa. This time Amonee already had the answer.

"You shouldn't be up yet. Please sit down and rest." It wasn't like Kursha had much of a choice, there were two bodies in his way blocking the door. "If you pushed yourself too hard, you could hurt yourself further. And she'd be upset." Amonee smiled tensely as he motioned to the recuperacoon. It was unfair. He didn't like forcing himself to be considerate in this moment after what had happened on that ship and the realizations he'd come to. But it was more important to behave oneself than it was to indulge oneself.

"You have to recover to be strong for Elidae. Please, take good care of her." Amonee bowed his head formally, a heaviness in his heart at the words. After the events of the ship, this was what he had to do.

      Captain Kursha Vidari

He knew that face.

Kursha froze, fingers still intertwined with the curtain. A dozen memories sprang to the surface in rapid succession. The café in Busthind, Elidae's booth, the incident with Odette, the Bloodfest competition... Why could he not remember?

“Neo... neoloo... neoclue...” The greenblood continued to mutter under his breath. He pinched his brow and pressed his hand to his forehead. God damn, why was it so hard to remember? He was usually better at this. The little a** had been a pain in his side more than once. His name should have been reflex.

Suddenly he snapped his fingers. “Nucleo and Anemone!” he exclaimed at last. Elidae had included them on her report only several nights before. She had quite a lot to say about them too regarding their performance on the mission. Too bad he had derailed that conversation; he would have liked to know more. The greenblood's eyes narrowed as he turned his gaze from Nucleo to the one she had called Anemone.

“I'm fine,” he replied, not budging. He made a show of looking the two up and down. “Are either of you injured?” he asked, tone curt.
