Stryke had done what he could given the situation. The events leading up to their return to the safe house had been somewhat chaotic. Trying to keep tabs on everyone was equally challenging, along with trying to manage his own work. It gave him a newfound sense of respect for the current acting officers, and of Byakko's leadership. Following Aprife's speech, Stryke had stayed behind to let the majority of the trolls present fill out to go about their business. They would have a long journey back to Salamire Outpost, but they were not leaving with their tails tucked between their legs.
This had been a widely successful mission.
They could start focusing their time and energy on trying to move things forward. Indeed this was no game, every day was a matter of life and death. It was a constant balancing act, and it was not an easy one. The very same yellowblood whom had delivered his speech was still present, although he seemed to be tidying up. It wasn't enough he was working on earning his right to be an officer, this was even more added responsibility. It was an honor.
"ah. good evening friend." Stryke greeted as he approached the older yellowblood, stopping just out of arms reach. Aprife had been a long time mentor, even if in passing. The head of the intelligence office was hard not to admire. Still, even after all these sweeps, he still had to crane his head up to talk to him. The other had always been extremely tall, that fact had not changed by any means as Stryke himself had remained below average in height. "it's great to hear good news for once i mussst admit." He smiled, making initial small talk. His expression seemed cheerful compared to his usually more serious self. Stryke even chuckled as he rubbed his neck slightly.
"everytroll worked so hard, it'll be nice to see how this applies to future series of events to come wouldn't you say?" It was the groundwork for their future, that much was obvious. What it would mean in full of course remained to be seen.
The fake military ID in his possession carried with it a heavyweight of realization. "thanks..by the way." He added a touch sheepish as his arms dropped to his side. Even if he knew it wasn't just Aprife's decision, he still expressed his gratitude.

"Hey, Stryke," Aprife greeted. Though he didn't look over—and down, Stryke was so damn short—until he'd finished jogging a stack of papers on the table, it was impossible to miss his sharky smile. "I've already got ideas for all that. Let's take a walk."
Not that they were going anywhere exciting, of course, but Aprife gathered a few things in his arms and started for the other side of the room without waiting for confirmation.
"Y'know, I'm not sure how obvious it was to most of them how much the Initiative was hurting," he admitted, "They really picked up the slack this time, though. We'll be in a better position to keep growing." Right now they were still little more than a hungry fly grabbing for dirty handfuls of the Queen's cake, unfortunately, but he wouldn't let that ruin the good mood.
"We have to take advantage of this. That's why you got one of those IDs." It was obvious, at least to Aprife, what Stryke had been thanking him for. "We need trolls willing to take bigger risks, but skilled enough to handle it."
