She lay in the recuperacoon, silent and still. Flydra didn't like it. The tealblood tsked in irritation as the latest nurse awkwardly left. SHEshell had gone straight to the medical bay as soon as their mission was over in order to take care of the yellowblood's injuries. Watching her moirail go out in a blaze of glory was incredible but the aftermath of her unconscious body lying on the floor was too painful to bear.

Which was why Flydra had fought tooth and nail to get her darling the best bed in the wing.

"I wish you would wake. I don't like this quiet." She had grown up in empty rooms with nothing but herself studying. Scorpa had been the first troll to change that. Her laughter and chattering filled the space around Flydra with life and color. Without her, the world was merely grays and blacks again.

Flydra shifted to pick up a comb and gently work on another section of Scorpa's mane. Even if unconscious, the tealblood knew she would want to look her best. Hopefully they would hear word from Lorata and Austri soon.

The waiting game was the hardest part of a hospital.

Everything hurt. She hadn’t expected it to burn this much. Surrounded by darkness, she found herself alone with her thoughts. A place she hated to be. When she was alone it was much easier to listen to those dark hateful thoughts. The voices grew louder as the space grew hotter, demanding to know why she’d let the situation get that bad. She was supposed to be a super soldier, she was supposed to have protected them! Now she was unconscious and who knew what else what happening?! If anything happened to them she would never forgive herself!

A cool hand touched her forehead, cutting through the noise. All at once she was centered and calm again. She would know that hand from anywhere.

“Flydra.” Her throat was dry and her body ached. But in the presence of her moirail it all disappeared. She was just so happy to feel her, to know she was here.

She opened her eyes, glancing over at her. A grin spread across her face as she recognized their location. If they were here at the tower once again that meant only one thing.

“We made it. High five, commander.” Wearily, despite the pain, she raised an arm.

Scorpa's voice was scratchy and rough. But it was a welcome and wonderful sound. Flydra reached to return the highfive that the yellowblood offered before linking her fingers through Scorpa's. It was warm even if weak.

"We did. You fought well." She murmured to her moirail, putting down the comb she had been holding earlier. "You've been asleep for several hours but you haven't missed much. Still no word of Lorata or Austri yet." The tealblood had been asking the other medical staff to notify her if the seadweller or greenblood showed up in the medical wing immediately. It was a scary thought, the idea of all three of the other sirens with heavy injuries. Flydra wasn't sure she would be able to keep her cool in such a situation.

"Static and Engrav are fine. Their injuries were treatable and seen to." Flydra felt it necessary to fill in her best friend on all the news she had gathered up during the lowblood's rest. Although Scorpa put on a cocky front to pretend she didn't care about the blueblood, Flydra could tell she would've wanted to know what had happened to him.

"... how do you feel?" It was the most important question in the world. She waited to hear the answer with a tense energy coursing through her. She would move planets to make sure the answer was "Fabulous!"

“Damn. I hope we hear something soon.” Scorpa scowled at the lack of information about their other Sirens. They didn't know if they were still on the flagship or currently returning. Austri and Lorata were both strong and capable but that didn't make her any less inclined to worry about them. She wouldn't be satisfied until they were both in front of her smiling.

“I'm glad the others are okay.” The yellowblood continued, thinking back to how their time on the flagship had ended. Static had been in a terrible state, almost as bad as her. If she was alive and okay then he certainly must be too. It wasn't great logic but it was comforting anyway. Engrav she didn't know as well but was aware Flydra had an arrangement with him. She couldn't collect if he'd died and so Scorpa was glad the other yellowblood had survived too.

“Everything hurts.” Scorpa admitted in response to Flydra's question. She was doped up on some drugs which was lessening the sensations but she could still tell there was pain. Having something explode at point blank range was simply going to hurt. She hoped Flydra wouldn't feel bad. Scorpa knew she was doing everything she could. Healing was a process and despite Flydra's research they didn't have an instant fixes just yet. In time, though... she was fully confident in the scientist's genius. She wouldn't trust her body to just anyone, she'd sought out and found the best.

“But I know you'll take care of me.” The yellowblood grinned once more, reaching past Flydra's high five to cup her cheek affectionately. She always loved it when she blushed. That teal was the same color the night sky turned when it was just starting to change into day. It was a shade she liked to watch before falling asleep.
