Joy was once again searching through the Haunted House. She was keeping an eye out for some students in particular, but she was already prepared to deal with those she didn't want to run into. The Moon hunter remembered her last visit to the house, felt her lungs constrict instinctively in a desire to cough even if the FEAR shield of her weapon and the pendant around her neck should have been reassuring to her.
She rounded the corner, careful to maintain her silence. She may not have been praying for an uneventful visit but she wouldn't have said no to some excitement either. It's been a while since her last adrenaline rush. Still, she would have to be very careful, especially if her weapon was being uncharacteristically expressive as of late. Not that Bert had begun to speak to her enough that a full conversation could be had but the intensity of his emotions had been upped as of late.
Perhaps that was why she was extra on alert.
Quote: Rolling a 5: ALL PLAYERS AT ANY POINT CAN FORFEIT THEIR ATTACK TO ROLL 2d12. If you roll odd, you do this damage to your opponent. If you roll even, you do this damage to YOURSELF - no modifier, you can ONLY DO THIS ONCE. You feel an uneasy unsettling feeling, as if something is coming, but you can't place what or when.

The intermediate Moon trainee heard before she saw the attack. There were footsteps, then a sudden rush of air, and Joy couldn't help but turn towards the sound, weapon summoned without a second thought. She wasn't violent per se, unless she was in one of those moods and just could not see things being resolved in any other way, but she wasn't simply going to roll onto her back and give up either. Had it been a student, she might have tried to talk them down or at least out of attacking her.
Maybe even try to get to the root of the matter if such a thing was possible.
But no, the wings, the demeanor, everything about the pale being in front of her screamed Horseman. And having been one not so long ago and having lived their life, Joy knew she wasn't going to be able to do such a thing. Either this horsewoman outright killed her or captured her for experiments, there was no way out of a violent encounter.
What else could Joy do but attack back? The bladed shovel arced.

Interesting! Intriguing! The mere fact that this one attacked her so readily amused her, and she couldn't help but laugh -- the sound was loud and short, an almost bark of laughter echoing out from Zosma's throat.
The sound didn't last for long, however -- the Horseman blinked as she stepped back a few steps and tried to retaliate with an attack, but her second attack also missed.
Her good mood soured, and she silently cursed the fog of the Haunted House. How was she supposed to fight in a successful manner when distractions like this were in the way?
Her golden bangles swayed as she righted herself, and her hands moved up to adjust her hair just slightly before she hunched in a slightly defensive manner, wings out -- the stance... was not really that defensive at all.
The Horseman lacked the understanding and basic knowledge of how to fight -- indeed, it seemed that she was simply lazy, or just... tired all the time, by the way her wings drooped at either side, though she attempted to look more dangerous than her attacks were actually hitting for.
She lacked the experience, it seemed.

The energetic statement of words caught Zosma off guard, and her next attack didn't hit as hard as she would have liked -- she ended up reeling back and just barely grazing her opponent with very little force, blinking hard.
What language was that? It was... different. She wasn't entirely sure she liked it, but she wasn't sure she disliked it, either.
Zosma wanted to hear more.
How many things did humans speak, anyway? So far, she'd found that one spoke 'normally', while this one... spoke in a wholly different way entirely. Zosma kind of wanted to find out the differences... but didn't think this one would be a willing test subject for that.
But still... Zosma couldn't help but wonder... at her own Hunter that she had gotten her precious blade from.
What language did they speak...? All they did was sleep --
The thought threw her off of her game, making her distracted -- and her hits not as hard as they should have been.
Zosma couldn't help but stare at Joy, intrigue and wonder in her eyes.
Yes. She wanted to find out if Joy would speak more words.
