The sun had risen only a few hours before, and most trolls had gone back to their hives long before then. Not Floren, though. The little jade didn't often use his immunity to the sun's deathly rays, but he'd heard about a potential ruin in the desert between his hive and Four Fronds, and wanted to see if it was anything worth looking at. Skoli was of course coming with him. Completely out of sight, leaving Floren to look alone and defenseless as he traversed the sand dunes.
Frequent breaks happened, of course. He hadn't quite been out this far before, and wasn't keen on running into much danger so far away from his hive. During one such break he'd settled himself under a lone tree atop a hill - apparently it was soil enough to mix with the sand to support the tree's life. This position gave him a nice view of the surrounding areas, just in case any daywalkers were about.
But... the thing... no, person he saw moving around did not seem like a daywalker. Curious, he stood, shielding his eyes from the sun as he squinted to try and get a better look at the figure walking some distance away from him. Who else would be out while the sun was high in the sky?

Xavier had a few things he needed to do still before they made the journal to Chittentown, including gathering a few new plant seed species to enhance his lusus garden. Anu kept such a wide array of plant life...it seemed natural to try and grant her more of what she loved. The pair had not been out and about during daylight hours in some time. Due to the majority of those he was closest to being nighttime only trolls, Xavier had given up chasing the morning light.
Today was not one of those days, he would forgo normal sleep if it meant doing a little exploring. Anu had been content to travel with him, following alongside her now grown little grubling. She smiled sweetly down at her beloved troll, a pleasant sigh escaping her lips as she moved across the landscape at his side just as they use to when he was little.
The pair had decided to explore another side of Busthind, the part nearest to the desert. The risk of course of running into daywalkers was always a constant threat. It was way Xavier carried the large glaive at his backside. The one he carried as a boy had been traded in for a larger, more studier version to match Xavier's increase in height, and strength. Hopefully, he would not need to use it.
Coming to a halt, he gave a small stretch, yawning as he smiled good-naturedly up at Anu. "Mum, I want to bring back some cactus flowers for Eilidh and Amonee...I think they would like them." He murmured, his cheeks tinting jade slightly. Rubbing his neck, he looked in the distance...frowning as he thought he saw something.
What was he looking at? Surely it wasn't a child-sized daywalker..the idea made his pumpbiscuit sink. Eckios had seemingly gone missing several weeks ago..the idea of finding the boy Eilidh looked out for made his throat tight with fear. He knew the kid was capable, but the idea of finding any child-turned daywalker was not a pleasant consideration anyway he looked at it.
"Hello...?" The jadeblood called out, hesitantly stepping forward ready to defend his lusus at all cost.

Not a daywalker, that was for certain. They didn't speak, at least not really. Floren tapped his foot on the ground a couple of times to let his lusus know he was going to investigate. No doubt, Skoli had already figured out he was up to something. "Hello...!" He called back and waved a little. Better to show that he wasn't hostile before approaching... one could never be too careful.
He carefully made his way down the hill, sliding a little on the sandier bits until he reached the bottom. The troll in question was older than him, but still had his lus--
Floren froze, eyes widening a little as he finally took note of exactly what kind of lusus was with the other troll. A mothergrub. He clasped his hands together for fear of showing his excitement a little too much, then trotted forward a little to get a closer look. He remained outside of the glaive's reach just in case- just because this was a fellow jade did not mean he was going to be friendly. "Do you live near here? Ah- I'm Floren." He couldn't help but ask the first thing that came to mind. Here he was, out searching for some ruins that might have something to do with the jadebloods of the past, and he ran into a living jadeblood with a mothergrub lusus. He couldn't believe his luck!
