Honey
Lokeah’s mild gesture of approval was helpful, confirmation of his status as a tool that had done its job. He relaxed further, playing into the role with visible relief.

Money. He hadn’t thought about money. When he was out doing errands for St. Vier, the presence of a Kir, combined with St. Vier’s name, was generally enough for anyone providing the goods his master wanted. He knew money existed, of course; Haven was a business first and foremost. But much of St. Vier’s payment came more in the form of scrips, enforceable promises for power or service or for specific goods rather than money that could be changed for anything, in the right quantities.

Naturally, Honey didn’t have any money on him either.

Happily, it seemed that wouldn’t be a problem. He could certainly be a distraction—or, could he? His imaginative abilities were deeply stunted, he’d need some sort of direction, an idea…

Honey blinked in surprise at the pat and the idea that his antlers could be hidden. Was that possible? Or, no, he knew intellectually it was possible—he’d encountered magic before in now-sold slaves. Seeing it turned positively in his direction was very new.

He followed at Lokeah’s heels, thinking forward to his role.

”How do I be a distraction?” he asked, tone businesslike.

That was… interesting. Did he see a sense of ease in the other man’s posture just simply by giving his approval of the suggestion? He supposed that was normal. Anyone would want to have their thoughts confirmed as something positive, as something that would be done. SO, Lokeah wouldn’t see a reason to think too much into this.

His focus now was on the means of gathering things they needed in a less than honorable way. What else is new around these parts? Lokeah had spent a good deal of time in the city playing little tricks on others and gaining what he needed to survive through these means frequently, granted he usually had a more sustainable source of magical power. He was a thief, and a good one.

Hands stuffed in his pockets, Lokeah turned to Honey as they walked, assuming that the other male would alert him if something came about ahead. Without realizing just how close the other was, it actually took him by surprise and there was a small jump in his step. “I dunno. Cause a commotion somehow. Knock something over and act like a careless passerby? Preach about some non-existent god?” Being the type to avoid violence he wouldn’t mention anything that would fall along those lines.

He was far from business like, but he did care that this went well enough. He wanted to get this squared away before they turned the corner that would lead into the busy and noisy streets of the market.

“Like either of those? We’re close and we’ll haveta split up in a minute.” He said, his tone starting to hush a bit. “We should enter separately so no one knows we’re up to somethin’.”

Honey
Honey was uncomfortable with Lokeah’s suggestions, but they were at least direction. It took a little too much initiative for him to deliberately instigate contact with another person (the idea sent his skin crawling), but—A flash of guilty pleasure sparked through him at the idea of ranting like a godly man. It was like a call to play a caricature of his master. His body locked up against the idea at first, but—it also sounded fun. Wasn’t he leaving St. Vier behind now? Wasn’t the point of this that he had wanted to leave, and this slave had given him the opportunity to do so?

From an objective point of view, that was what he was doing. The fact that internally he didn’t necessarily think anything of the sort was unimportant. He was here, in the market, with the slave wasn’t he? His actions spoke for themselves, didn’t they?

”Okay” he agreed, likely unnecessarily. Lokeah was already moving forward. Trusting him? Using him? He could do this, if only for that reason. He moved to the left, searching until he found a slightly raised area, turning over a crate to give himself further height. The antlers did much, for this. He didn’t think he’d noticed Lokeah charming them to invisibility, though he could be wrong.

He inhaled deeply, filling his lungs. And then--

”SINNERS IN THE HAND OF AN ANGRY GOD” he shouted, startling those nearby and causing those in the surrounding area to, at least briefly, look toward him.

”THE TIME OF JUDGMENT HAS PASSED, AND WE ARE LEFT STRANDED ON THIS b***h OF AN EARTH. WE CAN EXPECT NOTHING OF GOD’S MERCY HERE, SO WHAT ARE WE TO LIVE FOR?” His voice carried, and though some turned back many still watched him. There was a crazed note in his voice, a persuasion that really was a function just of him mimicking St. Vier. Honey didn’t think anything at all of his own abilities, but even an imitation of his master would do something, he figured.

Ah… Once again Lokeah found himself questioning what was going through the other males mind after the less than desirable suggestions he had made. He knew they weren’t anything special, but it wasn’t like his distraction were usually something so humanoid. Maybe it would be enough to spark—as yes, something.

Lokeah smiled when Honey agreed and allowed the distance between them to lessen just before they entered the market area. “Thanks Honey.” He said and touched a shoulder gently. That was the only thing the other male would have noticed as Lokeah channeled the spell that caused his antlers to dissipate from sight temporarily. A shame really, because he really did find them pretty.

Taking off and weaving himself through the messy crowd of people, Lokeah’s eyes wandered and searched for anything that one might deem a worthy disguise. If their escape was going to continue being successful, they couldn’t look like slaves… so… hunters? Masters? Yeah maybe something like that would be safe. There was a clothing merchant that caught his eye. Someone that made a higher quality of clothing that seemed to deem the use of personal guards useful. It seemed like a risky move to steal from them, but as his attention started to shift in favor of another source a booming voice shook his body.

It took a few precious moments for him to realize what was being said and that the voice was actually familiar. It was Honey. He was spouting nonsense just as he suggested and well, that was the distraction. He was wasting it. It had caught the attention of all three men he’d thought to avoid which was a pleasant surprise that the former slave would act on. He slinked between people and shrunk to the ground where he might not be noticed. His hand reached towards the top of the table and fingers wrapped around whatever he could easily grab but froze when he heard a voice.

It seemed as though the merchant was displeased by the ramblings of the crazed man on the platform. He scoffed at the words while one of the guards seemed overly interested and tried to sway him. But what of the other? Lokeah couldn’t tell from down here… frustrating. Heart pounding in his chest he took a chance. He yanked the fabric from the table and took a reckless roll into the crowd.

“THEIF!!” A voice sounded.

Was it behind him? Was it elsewhere? His mind was racing too much to be sure. Did it even matter now? Nah, what mattered was getting back to that crazed man whose words reached across the market… Stay low, he told himself as he followed the sound of the other man’s voice and only rose up when he came into view. Frantic eyes peered up to Honey but he didn’t know how to catch his attention…

He leaped onto the platform, using the same magic he had used on the larger male to hide the clothing he held. And he joined in, poorly. “Aye, maybe not your god my friend.” He spent a brief moment looking to the slave, trying to give cues to leave with his eyes and subtle gestures. Then he turned to those whose attention had been grabbed. “TODAY WILL BE REMEMBERED AS THAT WHICH YOU FOUND SALVATION IN THE GOD ASHER. A GOD THAT WILL DEFY YOUR ANGRY GOD AND BRING STRENGTH IN THE FACE OF YOUR ENEMIES...” Lokeah shout.

Honey
Incensed by his own rhetoric, it took moments for Honey to recognize Lokeah hopping onto his platform, differentiated from any random figure trying to stop his message from landing. His message? As he’d continued, Honey hadn’t paid particular attention to those around him, even if that had been his goal. He’d been, rather, exhilarated by the idea of proselytizing, and had found himself good at it.

Figures had started to gather in the brief time before Lokeahj joined him, and the name ‘Asher’ bothered him. Asher? No, that wasn’t who they were worshipping.

He sneered, ready to correct, but by then he was being pulled forward, and he remembered himself. Right. That was right.

He wasn’t trying to convince anyone now, of anyone’s god. It was true that he’d never before gotten the opportunity to convince anyone of what he believed, what god he worshipped. Back then, of course, he hadn’t been doing anything of the sort; he’d been aping something he’d seen before, someone he’d seen before the Kirs had pulled him from his post.

Still. It had been--exhilarating.

Unaware of any of the difficulties Lokeah was having with the law, he pulled the other man down, ready to move on toward the Silver Claw Inn.

Oh, what a face~! Honey didn’t exactly like that he’d popped into his little speech for some reason huh? For that, Lokeah offered a playful grin before he was led off the stage.

He honestly didn't mean anything by his statements. It was simply his way for blending in and retaining some form of innocence in hopes that he hadn't been clearly seen. Asher just happened to be an easy name to use... ah but maybe it was his own selfish hope that bringing worship to a lost friend would return him to his side.

Lokeah moved in hurried movements once they reentered the alley that had brought them there, and within moments of being out of sight of the market the clothing reappeared, draped in ripples over his arm. Honey’s antlers would have as well, though he didn’t pay any mind to that.

“That was a bit too close… thanks for the distraction man.” He said, looking over what he’d grabbed blindly. He grabbed more than enough for himself however before he could mention it there came a noise from behind them. Voices, he assumed of those searching for the thief, that caused him to grab for Honey’s hand despite his fear of the other man.

His pace didn’t slow and there was guilt in his face. “Which way’s the inn? We need to hurry.” He whispered.

[Moving to the Inn]
